    Talking [dinos22-Team.AU] Bench session with E8500 > W.R. Superpi 32M, wPrime 32M & 1024M

    Team.AU strikes again!!!

First of all big thanks to k|ngp|n for making such an awesome LN2 pot >> namely F1 Extreme Edition. If you guys haven't got one go buy it cause it kicks ass

Had a fun benching session today and it seems i nailed some dual core world records here (correct me if i'm wrong pls )

Thanks to Kosta for lending me his board and RAM sticks

Note: both air and LN2 max benchable FSB was 596-600MHz
i've tried everything except LN2 on NB which will probably help a little but it's just very very odd

    Test Configuration:
Asus P5B DLX DDR2 Motherboard (1226 bios) FULLY VMODDED
    **1.8vcore, 2.44vdimm, 1.80vMCH, 1.8vSB, vdroop/drop pencil mod**
    Intel Core2 Duo E8500 Q745A703
    2GB DDR2 Corsair Dominators
    2GB DDR2 Crucial Ballistix
    PCI Express Nvidia 8400GS
    620W Corsair PSU
    Swiftech copper heatsink on NB
kingpin F1 Extreme Edition Solid copper CPU LN2 Pot
    Big mamma 35L LN2 Dewar
    80GB SATA Hard Drive + 160GB PATA
Windows XP Pro 32bit + PATA Dual boot XP Pro/Vista Ultimate 32-bit

    YOUTUBE VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDPrXMep6u4

i mentioned screen not refreshing in the second part >> changed to PATA drive and it went away

W.R. for dual cores for both 32M & 1024M wPrime
    32M time: 13.479s
    1024M time: 7m 04.585s

W.R. for dual cores for 32M SuperPi
    32M time: 8m 31.047s

............some of you guys say Windows Vista is slow for SuperPi
    hehehe ARE YOU SURE
didn't use maxmem no wazza here
    normal Vista services all running

I ran into some stability problems, changed the drive and benched wPrime but forgot to redo this test at higher speed >> would have had the record on this as well

I ran into some stability problems, changed the drive and benched wPrime but forgot to redo this test at higher speed >>> sub 8s on the next session i think

    LN2 PREPARATION

    AIR COOLED TESTING

    596MHz 8M SuperPi stable

NO CHANGE IN FSB on LN2
with the right board this CPU will benchmark at 6GHz

QUICK RAM TESTING 2.44-2.48vdimm (tried 2.5/2.54v at 650MHz 8M to see how it responds to volts bumps >> basically all good )

    hey George
this CPU can bench Pi at lower vcore
i just used higher value as insurance if i figured out FSB just in case

    just could not pass 600FSB
    VERY ODD
maybe i'll try a different bios or something

    thanks guys

Misko >> yeah Balllistix are CAS5 sticks
    they are at CAS4

dominators kick ass at CAS4 up to 640-650 depending on vdimm but i was losing a few MHz FSB with them so changed over to Ballistix

donno why but both Corsair and CEllshock were losing me some FSB :S

    thanks guys

in case anyone interested i used these bios settings

    CPU settings are as follows:
    - Ratio: 9.5
    - C1E: Disabled
    - CPUID: Disabled
    - Vander: Disabled
    - CPU Tm: Disabled
    - Ex Disable Bit: Disabled
    - Speedstep: Disabled

    North Bridge settings:
    - Remap Disabled - Disabled
    - Timings: AUTO (best results for FSB & very tight subtimings interestingly enough)
    - Static: Disabled

    BIOS details:

    Voltages:
    - AI: Manual
    - CPU Freq: 500MHz
    - DRAM: 1000MHz 1:1
    - PCIe: 105
    - PCI: 33.3
    - Spread Spectrum: Disabled
    - RAM Volts: 2.35v (I had voltmods so real volts were 2.44-2.48)
    - CPU Volts: 1.7v (Added rest through trimpot)
    - FSB: MAX VALUE
    - NB: MAX VALUE (1.8v via voltmod)
    - SB: MAX VALUE
    - ICH: Auto

volts were all tested individually and combined to get the best FSB results

BEST Combo of bios values for Max FSB and performance i needed (i actually wanted max FSB but after testing different things performance was good too for superpi)

Hehehe Vista ain't too shabby after all...5700 at 1.75v is nuts. You'da docked a sub-8 1M for sure if you could use one of the old bioses if it weren't for the 9.5x. :-/

    Great runs.
