    Cool Cellshock PC3-14400 + P5K3 Deluxe

Thanks to Sascha/Saaya from Cellshock and Peter/Shamino I'll be playing with a 2x1GB Cellshock PC3-14400 8-7-6-21 dual channel kit which is rated for 1.7-1.9v

Sascha sent this kit to Peter for testing before being passed onto to me. Here's Peter's results http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=163930

I'll do the photos later, for now some quick tests. What I am interested in is how well they clock for CAS6 !

    System:
    • Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 L723A347
    • Corsair Nautilus 500 H20
    • Asus P5K3 Deluxe 0604 official bios
    • 128MB Gainward FX5200 PCI
    • 2x 1GB Cellshock PC3-14400 8-7-6-21 dual channel kit rated for 1.7-1.9v
    • 74GB WD Raptor 8MB
    • LiteOn 165H DVD Burner
    • Sony FDD
    • 1KW PCP%C SLI PSU
    • WinXP Pro SP2 Luna Royale Blue themed with nLite + RyanVM updates

    Manged to nearly complete 32M @900Mhz 6-6-6-18 1T 266FSB Strap PL6 at 2.25v but failed at very last iteration on 32M run. So backed down to 890mhz 6-6-6-18 1T 266FSB PL6 at 2.25v and here's what I get.

    @890Mhz 6-6-6-18 1T 2.25v
    266FSB
    PL6

Looks good, are you only going to test cl6 or would you also make cl7 and maybe cl8?.

The gtr on the kit you have seems very promising.

    Keep pushing it.

Nice eva CL6 at almost 1800MHz is amazing ... Maybe you could manage to finish that SPi 32M with CL6 @ 1800MHz with more Vcmh What's your current one ?

Further testing and more results would be for sure acceptable, as this little fella seems to have a lot potential ... GTR rulezzz ...

    Thanks guys..

Above 890-900mhz 6-6-6-18 1T was done with 1.7v max vMCH.

I've now flashed to 0810 P5K3 Deluxe bios and sees can overclock memory a bit tighter and higher as well. Weird sometimes though, 0810 bios reports it detected an unsupported cpu and for me to flash to latest bios to support my E6850 L723A347 retail cpu ???

    System:
    • Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 L723A347
    • Corsair Nautilus 500 H20
    • Asus P5K3 Deluxe 0810 official bios
    • 128MB Gainward FX5200 PCI
    • 2x 1GB Cellshock PC3-14400 8-7-6-21 dual channel kit rated for 1.7-1.9v
    • 74GB WD Raptor 8MB
    • LiteOn 165H DVD Burner
    • Sony FDD
    • 1KW PCP&C SLI PSU
    • WinXP Pro SP2 Luna Royale Blue themed with nLite + RyanVM updates

With 0810 bios can even do PL5 with lower vMCH of 1.55v and tighter memory timings.

    thats asus for ya
did you reset the bios to setup defaults after the flash?
try it, maybe thatll fix it.
what speed did you flash the bios at?
maybe try a second flash, maybe something went wrong?

Is that real vdimm or what you set in bios?
can you getlower tras with higher or lower trp or trcd to get better scores?
a lot of people bench with 655-15 or so... i never managed to get that stable...

Oh btw, what strap are you using? 266 right?

Yeah reset 0810 bios after flash - only seems to occur sometimes heh.

vDimm is what is set in bios. Haven't tried lower tRAS yet.

All above and below results on 266FSB strap

    Tight timings @9x445FSB 1:2 890Mhz 6-6-5-18 1T PL5 at 2.25v / 1.7v vMCH make sub 12min Super Pi 32M @4005Mhz look very easy

later maybe just doing straight boot from bios benchies for now.

With vdimm.. weird is there seems to be a 930-950mhz mem clock ceiling on this board and I get more test #5 memtest errors at 2.25v vdimm than at 2.15v vdimm regardless of timings used. Maybe NB chipset limitation ?

Yeah CAS6 is awesome..... but CAS7 seems to hit a P5K3 Deluxe board limit around 930-940mhz 1T regardless of memory timings 7-6-6-x or 8-7-6-x or around 940-950mhz 2T regardless of memory timings. Similar to what Shamino did around 940mhz 7-6-6-16.

Shamino used pencil vMCH and vdimm mods on P5K3 Deluxe, but I can't find anywhere online which shows how to do pencil vdimm mod ???

@940Mhz 7-6-6-18 1T PL6 with 2.15v vdimm and 1.55v vMCH for Single Super Pi 32M. Dual 32M failed half way even with 2.20v vdimm and 1.7v vMCH.

haha, you get them eva, nice results
could you handle them around 2000mhz cas7/8 32M stable?

try to find the p5k premium/deluxe pencil mods, they are similar as i know...
i will solder today my p5k3, can't wait to see how will like higher vmch...

Thanks but even 8-7-6-21 hits a ceiling at around 940-950mhz 2T or 1T doesn't make any difference.

George, that "Unsupported CPU" message usually appears in "borderline between extremely unstable & totally unstable" situations ( at least to me ) [ on various Asus boards ].

Higher Vmch will more than likely allow you to reach DDR3-2000 stable with 8-7-6-21 or even better.

And as always...great work, keep 'em coming

some sticks dont like more than 2.15v... this could be it...
the max voltage you can use depends on what slots you use as well, your using slot 2 and 4 right? did you swap the sticks around to see if that helps at all?
this board did 2ghz cas8 or cas7 stable with other mem right?

so you can get dual 32m stable at 890 with 2.25v but memtest fails at that speed?
whats the max memtest stable speed?

    nah memtest was fine for 900mhz 6-6-5-x 1T but not for dual 32M @900mhz 6-6-5-x 1T. 890Mhz 6-6-5-x 1T dual 32M okay.

Max for OCZ PC3-14400 Plats on P5K3 Deluxe also around 940-950mhz 7-6-5-x 1T.

hmmm os then the board seems to be limiting you at 950?
do you have another board to try?

Yeah seems P5K3 Deluxe memory controller limited, but I flashed my Blitz Extreme from 0904 to 1005 bios and broken my old FSB wall of 485FSB. 526-530FSB easily did 32M which means Blitz Extreme can be a candidate for phase change cooling now I'd think as well as the better memory controller on Blitz Extreme

Do a Vmch mod and feed some 1.8+v into the NB, I bet you'll approach 2000mhz 7-6-5 pretty easy. Higher than that, though, almost every P35 DDR3 board except the gem ones would crap out

Btw, just about any P5K3Dlx overvolts around 0.05v to RAM, so keep that in mind

I love this RAM!!! amazing performance
heres what I have with a Maximus Ex and QX9650:
I know its not extreme clocks, but great performance none the less...

I can't seem to stay prime stable past 455 FSB regardless of memory timings. I think with the quad, its just too much strain on the NB
    current settings:
    Vdimm: 2.1 (real)
    NB: 1.7
    PLL: 1.52
    FSB: 1.4

any advice on how to get this a bit higher? I know the memory has more in it, I just can't get there without sacrificing stability
oh and BTW, is 2.1v on this ram acceptable for 24/7 w/ active cooling?

Good question but really dont know... Have been running 2.1v on ASUS P5E3 WS Pro since november and had no problems at all. Had a 90 mm fan blowing directly at sticks. At that board 2.1 was 2.1, nothing more, nothing less.

Just switched to Maximus Extreme and upped for 2.1v there as well but it turns out that it is actually 2.18v. Still using the same fan and sticks havent died on me yet...

Machine running at least 6 hours a day and 7 days a week on 871 MHz with timings 7-6-5-15.
