    P5E WS PRO OC probelms

Before this mobo I had P5K Premium and with just setting fsb to 383 I got 3.45GHZ wtih stable prime and orthos. Now with x38 I got errors with prime.
I was trying to set 1.38 v for cpu and loosen ram timings but still same thing. Also turned off voltaged damper and still same.

    Sorry, off-topic here.

What are you located? I do not see P5E-WS in US and Canada at all. Hope you will give us some feedback on this board once you set it up.

I'm from Europe. After preorder I was waiting almoust a month for this mobo.
Anyway. As you can see from my post it's harder to oc for noob like me then p5k premium. But what I love about this mobo is it's design!!! Finallyt all sata ports are paralel to board so even when you have long thick geforce you'll be able to connect all drives. I hope that with future bios updates it will oc easier.

So far, desides the OC issue, how do you like your WS? Stable?

WS is for work station. Why would anybody wanna use a WS mobo to OC??
Go for the regular P5E, better results.

Are you running a P5E-WS? Where are you located? I asked this question because this board has not been released in North America yet.

How do you like the board so far?

yes iam running the P5E WS PRO, iam located in denmark..

and iam very happy with it, the only thing that bothers me is that the ddr3 version has 2 PCI-X.... i could really use one more for my fiber lan card...

and it has some wierd start problems sometimes, were it starts run for about 3-5sec, and shutdown.... after a short break it starts again and run fine.. but it is very seldom, a very minor annoyance

other than that its a very stable and oc friendly mobo, just like all the others highend mobo's from ASUS.

Good to know. The startup problems will probably be fixed by newer BIOS.

How are the temperatures CPU, motherboard, NB, SB?

I am also looking for a P5E WS PRO or P5E64 WS PRO motherboard. Unfortunately, I cannot find anywhere in US or Canada. Maybe someone knows where to find one ? I would really appreciate, thanks.

Out of the 4 online stores listed in the URL, 3 of them say they have this board in stock.

    You must be joking right?.....

This is the most overclockable and stable mobo nowadays M8.....

    ROCK SOLID at overclocking speeds.....

@ lukx: you mean the "P5E3 WS Pro mobo?....for DDR3?.....

    ...anyways.....

    Put strap 266
Put MANUALY the Cas latencies you want to work with and you know it's workable
DISABLE the LAST two options (at the end of the DDR config) - I can't remeber them now -
Put the next one at "Moderate" or at "Strong"
Put the next ones at 300 (both of them)
    1.8VPLL
    1.44 VTT (VFSB)
    Put ~1.6 - 1.7VNoth
    0.8V
    0.67 for North
    0.61 for CPU

and test again......also don't forget to feed your rams with propper Vdimm...
    INTEL PWA FOR EVER

I asked this question before but I did not get any response.

For Asus, I can see that they usually offer a few versions for a given chipsets:
    1. Regular
    2. Deluxe version offers more features
    3. ROG version for gamers

How about the workstation version (WS)? What makes this a WS version?

By its name, I would guess that workstation version would be more stable and use more durable material. However, looking at the P5E series, it seems all these boards use the same materials. For instance, the Maximus Formula and P5E are almost identical (even similar prices).

If you're planning to use a SAS Raid controller, you should chose one using PCI-E x4 or PCI-E x8 slot, the PCI-X is slower and will be soon obsolete.

If you're running the PCI-X at 64-bit/133 MHz is has a bandwidth of 1064 Mbyte/sec. I will take some disks to saturate this bus!!

PCI-e x4 will at normal speed be 1000 Mbyte/sec and a full duplex 2000 Mbyte/sec. x8 will of course have twice these bandwidths. Whether You are using a PCI-X or PCI-e x4 it will take roughly 10-12 disks to use the full potential of the interface.

So PCI-X will be fast enough for most users. However, PCI-X will slowly fade away as most manufacturers provice PCI-e HBA/RAID adapters today. Hence it will more economic to buy these relatively expensive cards with PCI-e interface, as it is more future-proof.

Sorry for the thread revival but I'm also having a hard time overclocking this mobo. Struggling with a Q6700, cant even get 3.6GHz out of it.

Hipro, if you read this we do mean the P5E WS Pro, for DDR2. I'll try your settings now and see how they go but I dont think the DDR2 version has all the options you listsed.
