Super Talent, thanks for the tour

We had a chance to visit the Super Talent assembly plant in Santa Jose California. Joe James gave us a tour.

They had more than a dozen complete lines running in a very nicely laid out floor, the best I have seen to date. USB drives to DDR3 everything was rolling product and all stations were busy at work.

Every part is hand tested several times through the assembly and packaging process. The 20+ years of manufacturing was evident in the efficiency and scale of the layout.

Once we got back to the SSD assembly and test area we found the founder who I believe was Ma himself?? He was hands on working on his own project. Oddly, there was an 260 liter LN2 bottle with some cryo chamber piece of test equipment on the bench. I cannot tell you what the exact use but it sounded like he was cryo treating tea leaves.

Joe gave us a better explanation when he let us know they do sub zero testing on IC parts.

Dinos and Josh have the images, they are just getting home now and hopefully have available soon.

Good stuff Super Talent, surprised and impressed with the manufacturing capability on state of the art equipment.

New speeds of ram? they are building D9GTR and some other smaller D9 DDR3 they said did not clock as well. I should have noted the part numbers but we were pressed for time to make it to the airport.

Super Talent is making awesome products lately
"To exist in this vast universe for a speck of time is the great gift of life. Our tiny sliver of time is our gift of life. It is our only life. The universe will go on, indifferent to our brief existence, but while we are here we touch not just part of that vastness, but also the lives around us. Life is the gift each of us has been given. Each life is our own and no one else's. It is precious beyond all counting. It is the greatest value we have. Cherish it for what it truly is."

    Hey guys

Sorry about the late pics. Man these two 14 hour flights really took a lot out of me plus work and all LOL

Anyways we were really running out of time in US on friday and Charles thought it would be a good idea to quickly drop in and see the guys at SuperTalent. Took us a few goes to find it and finally we saw MA LABS or something along those lines which is where ST is based.

Please note that we were really rushed and had to catch a ride at the hotel shortly after this >>> maaaan charles was hauling a.s.s back to the hotel

SuperTalent have some bigass machinery there EEK
Check out these babies where the RAM gets their ICs and rest soldered onto the PCB

What you see below are the roles that actually hold ICs in them and go onto RAM PCB and the monitor is showing the baking temps ~250C EEK

When the RAM gets assembled it's placed in these baking templates and shoved into the oven.....I think those are actually USB stick templates there

LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THIS PLACE
    it's freakin' huuuuuuuuuuuuuge
Oh btw in the screenshot below we've got Joe James (ST Marketing Director) talking to Josh (moloko) and we also see Charles chatting to some hot chicks on the phone.......NOT! juuuust kidding if his wife is reading >>> eeerrrrrrr or mine for that matter hahahah

Here are those new ICs >> noticed the SIZE donno if these are any good as the GTR/S/T but it's good to see them move onto smaller manufacturing process anyways

Here we have one of ST's head tech >> really sorry mate i forgot the name heh
next shot is the whole group together FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: Lead DRAM test engineer is Tai Vo, Charles (FUGGER), Josh (moloko), Joe James (ST Marketing) & Dino (dinos22 << how original hahah )

You guys seeing what i'm seeing >> massive 260L LN2 bottle
    Nah kinpin wasn't around >>

We actually met the founder of MA LABS and SuperTalent in the SSD testing room . Really nice man and he loves his tea. He was actually freezing tea leaves and finely grinding them into pouder. >>> stressful job that one

I just wanted to say thanks to Charles for taking us to see SuperTalent guys and many thanks to Joe James and Amy

    Nice meeting you all
