    QX9650 on Air

Best I can do was 4.45GHz - I think I need better memory. Anyhow the specs are the following:
    Gigabyte P35-DQ6
    Scythe Infinity
    Corsair DDR2 800 4-4-4-12 1GBX2

    Any suggestions or recommedations?

Great result The only problem that stands out to me is the difference in core temps at idle. 33 - 47c.

Scythe Infinities are quite good, actually. Sure, a TRUE120 would be a better bet for quads, but the Infinity is pretty damn good.

There are a lot of these processors around here already. I hate you all haha

Seriously, it was a nice clock for what you were working with. If you had a better heatsink and RAM, i wonder how high you could push it.

I have better coolers and new water kit but too lazy to open up the other computer or mess with the water. Also, if you put 2 fans on the Infinity, I think it cools better than Tuniq.

Anyhow, I think I found the everyday sweet spot for this setup.
4.2GHz @ 1.44V running very cool and +5 hours orthos thus far.

First and foremost let me say that you have one very nice CPU there.

As for suggestions or recommendations, tighten up those memorytimings or get yourself some decent sticks of RAM!

With some tight memtimings i think you'll be knocking on the 9 seconds door for 1M if not breaking into 9 seconds territory.

All X9650 cpu's we've seen so far seem to be able to run 1M at 4.5GHz on either air or water.

More and more ES chips come floating around it seems, if Intel is looking for someone to put one of these Yorkies through it's paces i'll be more than glad to volunteer.

Just FYI - Im no expert on OCing. Im sure others will have much better results than me. One thing for sure, this CPU is the best I ever tested for OCing.

You're doing fine for a non expert, if you really want to know the limit of this CPU, send it to me.
