Self closing 1/2" hose disconnects McCarr??

Take a look at this McCarr disconnect for me please.

    http://www.mcmaster.com/
    Part # 51545K36

It's got a male/female, is for 1/2" ID tubing, and has a whopping 3/4" size. I know the self sealing part will restrict flow, but with such a large one maybe it's okay? We use these but in smaller sizes for work and they never leak or go bad, and we beat the heck outta them in a very dirty environment.

I'm planning to get the WaterKeg Xtreme and it looks like a nice option so you can disconnect the Keg if you need to.

If this item restricts too much, what would you recommend for self sealing quick disconnects I can place on the back of my case for the hoses?

Awesome Question! Cant wait for a response! (bookmarking)

Seth has had mine in the WORKS for while now! I am planning on the same thing. I am a tinkerer at heart and know that I can not leave it constantly hooked up and not be in my case 2 to 3 times every other month.

Good question, but as for me and running the stock Fusion block, I already will have a small step down in my loop.

These may be handy for the Waterkeg?
What color are you guys getting, and did you order lights?
Im Black case with UV Blue lights.
I went for the Xtreme too!

Did you boy's see my rig so far?

I ordered several of those 1/2 ID diconnects for my next couple of water chiller builds. I hope they work at the temps I need them for, though, -20 to -45C. But they should work great for you

Very Sweet build and good clean cable management! Lov'in it! Can't wait to see the KeG! Where do you plan to put it? I see the fans at the top of the case - so I assume that's out.
I ordered Black and Red mesh and plan on throwing yet some more custom paint for Gears of War Logo on it. I just got the regular KeG as I already have a PA120.3 on a another build and will swap it later, I asked Seth to put my Bleed hole in it for me. (I know I will have to slightly modify the opening for it - as the MCR320 and the PA120.3 sizes are a little different) Anyway - I'm excited and Seth is great on keeping in touch!

Seth - no worries - I know your busy man..... I'm not sweating it! Ordering the WaterKeg is like ordering a Specialized Harley, may take a little bit to get it, but you know it rolled out of Manufacturing just for you!

Now - if we could just sweet talk Martin into testing the flow rate on those quick disconnects! Then we'd be in buisness! I will order some regardless and try them. Here are my first attempts at an External Cooler!

No where near Seth's Quality! But it cools Great - with the Iwaki for flow and PA120.3!

Thanks for the comments on the wire management. I wanted to keep it as visually pleasing as I could.

On mine, I think the 'light up blue UV' spider web pattern on the mobo tray, should look sweet? Ya cant see it until the UV lights get turned on with the toggle switches. I havent seen it myself yet.

In my cool air unfinished Ohio basement, I have that monster oak desk that the computer is currently sitting on. To the right of it there is a matching monster oak credenza. A few years back where I used to work, the big boys were all getting new office furniture. They gave the old sets away as a door prise. I was only too happy to drag a set home.

My TJ09 will be sitting on the right hand side of the desk, window towards me. The Keg will be 3' away also on the right, sitting on the credenza pulling cool air.

My house was built in 1917, so it gets down right nippy in the basement during the winter. OC season.

These work great. I bought 3 sets in 1/2" for my loop, and I simply love them. I wonder how I ever got along without them.

Are both sides Sealing? Non leak? or is one side wide open and then one side sealed?

This is what's important (to me anyway) this way if you would like to remount CPU block or GPU block - you dont have to drain the entire system.

Thanks for the great feed back!

    Part # 51545K36

    BOTH SIDES SELF SEALING
I use smaller ones at work, and very durable, years of dirty filthy use with no problems.

We don't know without testing how restrictive it is. There is a male/female listed. Go to the web site listed, do a easy search for that part number, it will list a page. Figure out the other half. These are the self sealing ones......

With a 3/4" opening with a 1/2" ID fitting and the newer blocks with inpingment etc it MIGHT be fine. When I get my Keg on order and close to completion I WILL be ordering these. I will do basic tests, but I'm a noob and don't need to spend 30 hrs to test. If I can OC and use these, I'm happy. They are about $16 each without shipping, don't know where they ship besides the USA.

It is like ordering a Specialized Harley!!

I'm cool with the wait too.

I'm just tickled I am officially in line!!

My system is really waiting on next wave of GPU's to release so I can select my last key part. It was never ment for my 8600GT. That is the fastest GPU I have ever owned. I think with my new system, and a new GPU speedster card, I should be all smiles.

I hope the reviews come fast and furious on the new cards. I would love a version with a water block installed at release time.

I do have 10' of Tygon 1/2" ID (3/4" OD) R-3603 Laboratory-Grade tubing that I needed a way to connect into the loop. I figured that I may need a longer hose than what comes on the Keg, so I had some on stand by.

With 2 of thoes I could meet the Keg 1/2 way.

What is the best way to cutt Tygon, just a sharp knife?

We cut a lotta tubing at work. Yep, a really sharp knife would do it. There are special tubing cutters, but I don't think it's needed unless you are using those 10 mm type hose connectors, we use them at work a lot. Just cut slow for a straight cut and you'll be fine.

Ohh, keep the Keg close to your CPU box, less tubing, better flow. Each bit of tubing does slow the fluid down a bit. Just do the best ya can. With the Keg you will get the cooling ya need. At least I think so.

    Thanks.

Distance between PC and Keg wil be about 3', but I figure with the bend mabey 4' of hose max. I have to clear a speaker before reaching the credenza.

I hope 4' is OK, with 3 blocks in the loop, even if one is the stock Maximus SE NB block.

They're two types make sure you get the SHUT-OFF types.

For a complete coupling, order a socket and a plug with the same coupler size. Straight-through components don't have a valve to stop flow when couplings are disconnected. Couplings with shut-off valves stop flow when separated.
I'm not concerned about being restrictive, I need the convenience.

I would like to get a set of these ordered today...

    Any updates?

I will try to figure out the other part number that goes with #51545K36 if I can't find what I need in the FFC35 Series.

I think I like the FFC35 Series. That site didn't let you order from them.

    Currently looking here:
    http://quickcouplings.net/osc/index.php?cPath=21_30

I just want 2 complete sets that self seal for 1/2" ID hose.

I think I need 2 of each, to do both of my hoses.
FFC221235 3/4 Hose Barb Non-valved CPC Coupling Insert
    FFC171235 3/4 Hose Barb Non-valved In-Line CPC Coupling

Why does it have 3/4 hose barb?

In the link you provided it had thoes part numbers with the text: Patented FFC35 Series 1/2" flow couplings
Makes it sould like they are made for 1/2" ID hose.

Will that work fine on my 1/2" hose?
So these are deffinately the total shut off kind, correct?

Mine are arriving Today! I ordered a 2ea Sealed Panel Disconnects, 2ea Sealed Male Disconnects. and lastly if flow is too hindered, a set of 2ea No Sealed Male Disconnects!
My WaterKeg is arriving Tomorrow and LIFE IS GOOD! WooT!

    ZOMG

What I ordered and they arrived! - The top two numbers are the Sealing ones and the bottom are straight through - in case flow takes a hit.

Please be sure and report back, I'm looking for some disconnects for a chiller build as well. I had dreaded transporting, and something like this would be awesome.

McMaster Carr is very good company to deal with! Here's a pic of some QD shut-off couplings I got in 3 days. 1 set of fittings was shipped from Chicago, the rest from Atlanta. They both arrived same day. Tubing in the pic is 7/16 Masterkleer. Went on nice and tight. Clamps are overkill.
