Biostar affordable X38 mobo features external cooling

In its continuing effort to get the people's attention, Biostar is preparing an Intel X38-powered motherboard that is hoped to impress on several levels. The TX38-A7 Deluxe, as it was named is a soon-to-be-released board that will show off Biostar's new vision, one that tries to perfectly combine features and overclock potential with decent prices.

When looking at the specs, the TX38-A7 Deluxe is nothing special, an X38 motherboard with 3 PCI-Express slots, two x16, one x4, two Gigabit controllers, six SATA 3.0 Gbps connectors, one PATA port, two eSATA connectors and 7.1 channel audio. What's special about it lies in the cooling solution which surrounds the CPU socket with heatpipes and takes the concept even further by having one heatpipe with cooling fins at its end extent out of the case area. The solution used by Biostar is supposed to offer a more extreme cooling method and one that is more direct and efficient.

The TX38-A7 Deluxe board is said to be ready for a release later this month at a price tag that will turn heads and make Tier One manufacturers jealous.

It looks ridiculous! They could have spent the money on a smart placed 60mm fan. That would actually bring some cooling.

It would be a pain to mount it in a case - you have to put that 'TV antenna' through IO plate hole..

Indeed not cool for water cooling users that don't wnat to take out everything to remove the mobo. That would be a make me take out EVERYTHING to get the motherboard out of my case. I don't think so.

Besides how much of a practical use is that little piece outside the case when theres limited air flow back there unless its hopping that the user has a fan mounted in front of it.

Overclocker boards should come without cooling of any kind but instead use sandard mounts for Water/DI/Custom blocks etc. Let us pick the cooling we want without any crap needing to be ripped off.

Wow.. they took heatpipe lolcoasters to a whole new level. My only hope is that this board retails for $200 or less being that it's a Biostar. If the NB isn't a crap-bin chip and it retails for cheap I can just remove all the crap and bring back "budget" overclocking. No $300 boards for me!
