    Multiplier issues

My cpu/board don't recognize any other multipliers than 15(wich is stock). This happened gradually, just a few times in the beginning, but now I can't use any other multies. (real annoying as there is no use benchmarking anymore with ramspeeds at 800's).

Anyone experiencing the same thing, and who's the sinner? I'm thinking the cpu, but it might as well be the board for all I know. Max volt the cpu have been running at is 1.65 for a few benchies (approx 1 hour alltogether), otherwise it's been running at "safe" volts under 1.6

Yes, I've tried "everything" but rebuilding my whole system from scratch...
Actually the multi is recognized at low speeds like below stock, but as soon as I start pushing it, my board reads it as x15 multi.. Therefore I'm thinking it should be possible to fix..

Anyone know where the multiplier lies, so that I know where to troubleshoot?

I upped the ref voltages for the ddr termination etc with + 50mv earlier, but I don't do that anymore, could that be it? Makes no sense...

Im having the same issue, try to change FSB and Multi's, FSB changes fine but multi's lock at 15x. Crosshair issue?

I aint touched this so unsure if thats what could cause it.

Seems like it, I know of one other Crosshair owner who's got the same problem.

I've posted a question about it at the Asus motherboard forum, so hopefully I'll get an answer.

In the mean time, Ill dig around on the vast knowledge base that is Google and see if its cropped up elsewhere!

A BIOS reflash may be in order. I haven't encountered such an issue on this GIGABYTE GA-MA69G-S3H.......yet.

Biosflash didn't help much I'm sorry to say. Neither did reinstalling XP (kinda my last straw of hope fixing it) Just hoping it's the cpu that causes it and not the board.. (Or maybe an excuse needed for buying a AM2+ board when it comes)

Flashed from the 0502 bios to the 0702, same fault on both of them. Quite sure it's on the 0602 too. And, mind you, it happened gradually, first a couple of times, then more and more often, and only at high freq's. Makes me believe it is the cpu thats faulty. Maybe too much juice? 1,45v -1,55v and a couple of times over 1,6v. Board has a vdroop of .05v too.. Will have to run it at 3405@1,5v(1,45load) with crappy ramspeeds

I seem to have corrected this. Currently running 267x12. HT multis all at 5x, vcore at 1.44v ish. Nothing else been changed I think.

5-5-5-15:2T timinigs (wont boot at 1T), trc is 24, max async 8ns.

    Hmm. Strange..
I'll have to play a little more with my ram, if it is my ramsettings that's causing it. Have you loosened up your trc setting from last time (when your multi were "locked")?
Maybe I'll have to eat my words to gOtVoltage...

Possibly changed trc from auto to 24 (after reading gOtvoltage post). I think it was the 1T to 2T change though. My RAM is 8500 and it wouldnt boot at 250x12 in 1T. Still doesnt.

Well I don't think they're (officially) supposed to work at 1t above 800MHz on AM2 rigs. My PC6400 boots at 850MHz 1T but unstable as heck unless I use too high voltages for my liking

    that's an odd problem lix.

As noted in some other threads the only issue i've had with this board is higih RAM clocks, I've thrown all sorts of CPUs in and out and had no multi issues.

What happens when you use CBId to change multi on the fly?

    does CnQ work?

Hm haven't tried cbid yet, will have to test it tonight. cool'n'quiet... aint using that Don't think x2 6000+ support it either as far as I remember. But I got an old X2 3800+ rev F2 maybe I'll check that one out again, don't think I had any problems with it. Then I can rule out the board in any case. It's oc abilities is another sad story though...

6000+ sure does support it, I've seen it first hand honking along @ 1ghz and 1v in vista on a machine

I only remember because it was the first time I'd noticed vista's ability to CnQ all by itself after a fresh install

I've found the board OC's well, it's just the RAM clocking issues, I just get it to play ball with the ballistix (no pun intended)

I havent tweaked my RAM settings much above stock, so cant really comment. Its defo stable with RAM running at 1068MHz.

Well well. After testing my memory a little yesterday. I'm sure it's not my memory oc thats causing the problem. Then it is the cpu itself or the board. Anyone dare to make an educated guess? I'm guessing the cpu..

Make sure that CoolnQuiet is off in the BIOS and all power settings in Windows are set to Always On.

Id guess it would be a CPU issue as well. Only difference we have is that I have 2gb RAM and you have 4. Worth dropping down to 2x1gb and using settings equiv to mine to test?

Cool'n'Quiet is disabled and power settings is on. There is no difference if I drop 2gb of ram. Weird problem... And F***ING annoying.

Running a mem divider when upping the FSB? And yes this problem is annoying heh.

    I just had a thought..

Mine was showing similar symptoms.. i.e only some multi's would allow high RAM clocks, regardless of the fact the same divider may have been in use (it seemed) But seems you're having issues at any ram clock?

Not sure im getting your point mAJORD? The cpu/board don't recognize other multipliers than 15 when I start pushing the HTT. At low HTT speeds it recognizes every multiplier. The limit seems to be at around 235htt (Wich is about as far as it goes at multi*15) I'm running it at 227*15=3405MHz 1,5V, no problem, but when I run it at 284*12 or 310*11 (315*11 ran no prob earlier..) it reads as 310*15= 4650(wich it don't boot at for some strange reason ...)
