With the specs being 1.100V-1.372V... you all seem to take it beyond... how dangerous is that ? Is that for getting a good oc or for running forever ?

Moderate increases in voltage(~10&#37 are not dangerous at all provided you keep core temperatures under control. I don't think there's been a single documented case of anyone burning out a CPU while running moderately increased core voltage. It is highly debateable what is the absolute max safe voltage so it's up to the individual to decide what they are comfortable with.

Naturally running any piece of equipment beyond spec will shorten it's life. But if the original lifespan of a CPU is 10+ years and your OC shortens it to 6, does it really matter? Not many people keep their hardware that long, especially overclockers.

Thats interesting that the G0 requires quite a lot more voltage than the B3.

I think it's just my G0 is not as great a clocker as I had hoped for. But as the saying goes you pay your money and take your chances.

I played around w/ 3.6ghz, but honestly don't remember the voltages.

I'm prime stable @ 30 minutes (which is NOT technically stable, but looks like it will be fine) @ 3.7 ghz (411x9)

I'm running 1.5175 in the bios, 1.4720 via AI suite.

I've run 400x9 with almost everything on auto and i booted 3.6ghz to vista. You can see what vista reports, then just drop the voltage till you are not prime stable/can't post.

    Hope this helps...

I actually got lucky and talked to the guys at my computer shop and said the L723A891 (VID1.300v) I just bought a day ago was a horrible overclocker and they said no problem we will swap it for you. Swapped for a L726A850 (VID1.2625v) and this chip is way better so far. Just installed it and did a quick test @ 360 FSB Auto vcore 1.3360v under prime large FTT's then set to 1.4750v and 400fsb in Bios ran large FTT's for around 40 min 1.4480 under load. Going to drop the vcore a couple of notches and work up. Maybe I can get away with less vcore.

Edit: Dropped to 1.4250 vcore(1.4080 Load) and ran large FTT for 34 min. Guess I need to drop to 1.3xxxv and see where it fails within a couple of minutes then go up from there. Then do a real stability test. Pretty happy so far.
