P5K Premium + air Q6700 4ghz @ heavy Load

I've been benching on air at about 1.58v the temps on the room has been in the 27oC.
first impression
The new Asus board is damn good for Quad and in the same conditions it clocks a bit better than my old P35-DS4 ,the release BIOS is great, clear and very easy to understand.
the CPU socket area is pretty clean.

Cons
overpriced in JP -> 300us$

benching went quite good and I managed to boot at 470FSB and do some cinbench,wprime and prime95 @ 480FSB

I also think 4ghz is amasing with a quad CPU, I would even be happy if my best 632A 6600 did 4ghz stable with only 1.58 volts...

FWIW...I agree it is an excellent OC and the temps are remarkable considering this is a quad.

In the past I have been fortunate to have some dual cores that would reach 4GHz on air but the temps were too much for any long term orthos testing. My L629B would run 32M Pi and 1 hour of orthos with 1.48vcore but since it was a B the temps would go quite high under air cooling. I got rid of it before I set my WC up so I never got to see how cool it would run under water.

those temps are not real guys, there is no way in hell a quad is running at 49c on air at 4ghz, common my b3 quad ran in the high 60's at 3.3 under 100% load and that was on water with a d-tek fusion waterblock and a highend watercooling setup. if G0 is that good than we dont need 45nm base quads. my e6850 idles below ambient, and at 3.95 idles at 22c on water, common, lets wait until core temp is updated, i bet tjucntion is way high on these chips, if the case temp has gone up 71c than tjunction is probably more than a hundered.

I think it's showing 49C @ 4GHz as an Idle temp and seems believable to me. Correct me if I'm wrong but the only temps I see under a load are in the last pic...~58C @ 3.63GHz

welll i am getting xtreme low temps with my watercooling setup,

i had a b3 stepping q6600 and on water with a d-tek fusion block i was getting idle temps in the 40's and load temps all the way to 69c, and at 3.4 i was getting 77c under load and this is all on water, g0 stepping might overclock like crazy but those temps are more than unbelievable, if someone can get idle temps of 49c at 700mhz more than me on air and if its all true, than u all have a miracle chip. i am adding 15c to my e6850 which is idling below ambient at 20c at 4ghz, i can say all i want but the truth is nothing can read G0 stepping temps right, we will all know in a little bit when coretemp is updated.

what i dont understand is its still the same quad core and just a different stepping, yes it can overclock and tolerate higher temps, and all of the sudden the temps are insanly cooler than b3's, i have seen reviews of quad core going up to 80c when clocked at 3.5 on water, i am sure u can search them on line. G0 all of the sudden gives u 500mhz more overclock on average and 20c less under load and all with air.

lol lets not start a temp war. i honestly really dont care about high temps as long as my chip runs stable.

temperature accurracy might be questionable but don't forget these new "G0" steppings are supposed to be 95W rated cpu's compared to 105W for the B3 quad cores...less heat produced and a good reason why higher overclocks with less vcore.

yea i perfectly understand ur reply, if i could oc g0 to high limits, i wouldnt worry too much about temps as long it was running stable.

very familiar with the heat with my B3-Q6600...i can't prime that baby@3.7 Ghz unless i remove the side case door and turn the fire up on the Vcore....and...boy, does it get warm in the room!
