    Asus P5K3 Deluxe ( P35 Chipset & DDR-3 )

As some of you are aware, I was playing with the Asus P5K3 Deluxe over the weekend and I'm currently finishing the measurements required for its review.
Like I told you guys ( ok not all, but some people that we had some chatting done on MSN ) that the board performed ideally, and lucky me this was the first Asus board that didn't feature ( or should I say 'showcased' ) any bugs or issues.
Well, everything seemed great 'till 5 minutes ago, when I went in the BIOS config to set the ICH9R to RAID mode to test the ICH9R RAID capabilities for the review.

To create a RAID Array on the ICH9R SATA-RAID controller you need to set the 'Configure SATA as' options' value to 'RAID', enable the SATA-Bootrom option and finally enable the Interrupt 19 Capture in the Boot Settings Configuration menu to be able to get into the ICH9R Configuration menu during POST.
But wait...the supposed BootROM enable setting didn't appear...perhaps a BIOS bug I said to myself...so I went ahead and flashed back to a previous BIOS ( v0301 ) and tried again.
    Same results.
Flashed back to v0413 again, and...waiting for Asus's response.

    Gotta get some rest now...bye

Well I can't say that I didn't expect something like this, but...

What can you expect from r*tarded arrogant people like the personnel in Asus Tech Support department ?

( could even be bots replying with automated responses depending on keyword detection...I'm not joking...I'm so close to believing it, whenever the word BIOS is included in the inquiry I receive a reply template from a supposed to be Asus employee with BIOS flashing instructions...really tempted to send a inquiry with the text being...a recipe )

the array as I couldn't get into Intel's Matrix Storage Manager BIOS configuration.
I had Interrupt 19 catch enabled of course.

    Any help is appreciated

Here are the directions for Installing Windows XP on the Intel SATA RAID controller (NOTE: Intel RAID will only function with Windows XP. It will not work with other operating systems.)

    BIOS

As the system boots, press [Delete] to enter the BIOS Setup. In the MAIN tab, under IDE Configuration, you should find these options: Configure S-ATA as RAID, and Serial ATA BOOTROM

Configure S-ATA should be set to [Yes] and Serial ATA BOOTROM should be set to [Enabled]

This will allow the SATA controller to run bootable RAID hard drives.
Well said batman! What's my name again ?

P5K boards overheating... SATA not working correctly... bad tech support. Why are people even buying these things?

I've got the same result trying to set up a raid 0 with 2, 80gb Hitachi Sata drives on the Asus p5k deluxe wi-fi board. Did anyone ever find a way to do it?

I RMA'ed my P5K Premium, and just orders an Abit IP35 Pro to replace it. I never thought I'd see the day when I would skip out on an Asus board...but that day has come.

If the DFI P35-T2R had been available, I'd be rocking that. However, seeing as how I'm not going for monster clocks, I'll save the $100 in price difference and drive on.

G/L on getting stuff resolved BZ...I doubt Asus will bull their heads outta their heinies, but who knows...

Well that's my case also. SATA-Bootrom option doesn't show up in the bios (604), but i have my Raid0 enable and running.

At the beginning i tried to set a Raid5, but it was hard with several installs and run slow. Then i went to Raid0 with WinXP32, used Raid drivers and finally install Win Vista Ultimate Upgrade, it run fine. This weekend i did a fresh install but this time with a full Vista Ultimate installation only, everything runs fine, but know the OS takes more time to run the startup, not the bios run, only the OS part to get to the desktop.

I think there's some issues with the ICH9R Sata/Raid controller or could be drivers bugs, but i see that only Asus P35 boards owners are the only ones that report these problems.

That makes me think what board i will choose for the coming X38... Maybe Abit or DFI...

I realize also that my P5K3 Dlx runs too hot with my Q6600 G0 (3.4Ghz, 1.38v) with a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme i was having temps around 80º+ @full load and the area around the CPU was almost burning, never saw any board this hot.

    I have a friend with a P5K Premium running a Q6600 G0 (3.6Ghz, 1.45v) and it runs much cooler.
