    HD2900XT with only 1 6-pin power connected

I bought a HD2900XT and had only 1 6-pin power on my PSU. I tested and the computer booted up just fine with only 1 6-pin connected to the card. You have to connect the 6-pin power to the 8-pin connector. 3D works but it seems that the card is operating at 2D clocks 506/512Mhz. The good thing with this is that the card is almost noiseless. The fan spins up 1 time every 10mins when using heavy 3D apps. The fan spins for approx. 10-15 secs and then back to low again.

    Tests below is with a C2D E6600@3,6Ghz.

First with 2 6-pins connected and card clocked @ 850/900Mhz

    3DMark01 63239
    3DMark03 42235
    3DMark05 21328
    3DMark06 12368

Now with only 1 6-pin connected

    3DMark01 34064
    3DMark03 15565
    3DMark05 17298
    3DMark06 8397

I find these result very odd! It performs very poor in 3DMark01 an 03 but performs awsome in 05 and 06?

Anyone tried or have a good idea about this? This is good thing if you want to game and your girlfriend wants to sleep. The computer is completly silent and FPS are still good.

He meant 01 and 03 performance is very low with 1 connector while 05 and 06 is pretty close to performance given with both connectors plugged in.

Very interesting to see it clock/perform that well with two 6pin connectors as opposed to the 6+8.
