    8800GTX Volt Mod guide

Does anyone have any link or guide to a proper 8800GTX volt mod guide? I would be really interested to try it. And when I say a proper guide I mean other than the ancient VR Zone one.
Hardware :Asus Rampage Extreme, 4870X2 (Crossfire X) EK FC Blocks, CPU Q9550@490FSB/4,180Ghz, RAM 4GB DDR3, Auzentech Prelude X-fi,PSU - Thermaltake Toughpower 1200 Watt,
    3 Loops with TFCs360 and a PA.120.2/DDCs.

I've tried to raise the Vgpu up to 1.6V but can only get 5 - 15 MHz increase in GPU clock.
    Same as the Vmemory.
Does anyone has the same problem with me ?
Is there an OVP for this card ?

As the article states, there might be some protection mechanism...

What's your current max oc for core/shader/memory and your voltages, Dihon?

My Core stucks at 660MHz @ 1.45V, haven't change the shader clock so it default.
But I don't check the speed at 660Mhz core.
    Memory limited to 975Mhz @ 2.2V.

I think the problem is either

    1) not enough cooling for your video card
    2) your GTX is just not going to go over your current setting
    3) make sure your shader speed isn't going too high b/c that can cause instability too

Other than this, I have no clue.

You need the OVP mod to go over 1.6v. It is a tricky mod to you gotta be a good solderer. You shouldn''t be running above 1.6 unless your on ln2 though. Also switch the read point for the vgpu to the next one over. People have had bad luck with the way its pictured.

    1. I've got an extra fan that sucks hot air from the card. Idle temp 54 & load temp 72.
    2. That's what I think
    3. Tried lowering the shader, same result.
    Thanks anyway.

The pics billdavis posted are the same ones I used to do my vmods. I also added a ground pin to the molex from one of the power connectors and you should also glue or tape your wires down because the solder joints (especially the memory) are so small that they are easily broken. I also found that my 3dmark06 score peaked at 729core even though my card can do over 750@1.5v 2.05v gives me the most from the memory which creeps up .06v under max load (2.11) good luck.

    HELP!!!!

I just did the volt mods to my Evga 8800GTX card and i have a small tiny prob.. I broke that damn tiny black resistor thats used for the GPU volt mod!

Now i have a few spare card lying around that i can use for parts.. Just find the identical size black resistor? Or could i just use a fixed resistor to replace it?

Oh btw.. Broke the damn thing by tuggin on the soldered wire trying to move another wire that was runing under it. Just tore that resistor right off and it looks like it snapped the end so i dont think i should use it again.

Cool Limited by my PSU ??

Hello , i am french and new on this very good forum and i have a question for you .

I did the vmod for the 8800 GTX to reach 1.5 V for the GPU but i can't do better score than without the vmod . I am limited at 648 mhz .

I don't understand why because i am using a waterblock for the 8800 , so i don't think what the temperature is the limitation . In fact i reach only 66° Degrees for 648/1674/2160 mhz.

My PSU is an old seasonic S12 600W witch can only deliver 36 A for the 12V line .

On my PC , i have also a E6600 turning at 3400 Mhz for 1.4 volt , 2 DVD driver and 4 hard disc .

So , do you think i should change it for a most powerful one to do better score with my GTX ?

Is anybody here had been yet limited by his PSU ?

Thanking you in advance for your answer .
