G.Skill F2-8500CL5D-2GBHK

I got a 2Gb kit of G.Skill PC8500 CL5 this week for review. Though I did not have much time to test so far, I want to show you some screenshots and pictures.
Tests are being done on the following:
MB: Asus P5W DH Deluxe
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 ES
PSU: Silverstone Olympia 650W
Cooling: Watercooling and a 120mm fan for the memory

Keep in mind that the Intel 975 chipset doesnt clock memory as high as 965 or 680i. The voltage is what I set in bios. Last time I measured Vdimm, it was slightly less than what was set in the bios.

I use SuperPi 32M for the stability tests simply because it does not take that long and has always been a good indicator for stability to me. But nontheless for 24/7 usage some slight adjustments of 5-10Mhz could be needed to have perfect stability.
I will run Orthos or any other stability programs at request.

I am still testing the ram, so the screenshots I will post are not final yet.
I also did not touch the subtimings at all yet.
I am planning to test the ram on a 965 board next week and as it will clock the memory a lot higher I will tweak the subtimings with that chipset.
Memset is only being used to show all the timings, but the timings the benches were run have been set in the bios and booted into windows without changing anything.

I want to thank G.Skill for sending me this kit. So far I am really impressed with this kit. Its even slightly better than my 2GBHZ PC6400. My sticks have Micron D9GMH on them, but I have been told that some sticks even have D9DKX.
The sticks are rated for 2.3V-2.4V. As I sont feel very comfortable running that voltage 24/7, I focused this part of the test on lower voltage.

But enough of the talk, let the pictures speak for themselves now:

The sweet spot on 975 is around 400-450Mhz for running 24/7, because running memory 1:1 to the FSB results in the best performance.
I will try to do some more testing and post the 965 results as soon as possible.

Edit:
As promised I tested the Ram on 965 today. Unfortunately I only had half a day for the testing, so I focused on 2.4V. With 2.20V ish the 975 results should be almost the same on 965, because the ram is the limiting factor before the memory controller is maxed out.
Sorry for the small screenshots, but I had to use an old TFT.

The test system being used:
MB: Asus P5B-E Plus
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E4300
PSU: Seasonic S12 500W
Cooling: Zalman 9700 LED and a 120mm fan for the memory

2.40V

"My sticks have Micron D9GMH on them,"
I want a confirmation : do you have D9GMH on your previous PC6400GBHZ or on this current PC8500 GBHK ?

Thanks for the clarification

Nice results Fr3ak, but I've always wondered why do G.Skill make so many different kits with the same IC's and PCB's?

I was going to test the ram with the Quad GT today, but it doesnt work with the ES CPU I have :/
So I think I will need another 2 days to post 965 results. But I am very confident that it will clock very good on that chipset

Unfortunately I dont have a P35 board yet, but it looks like I will have one within the next 3 weeks.

So far I was only able to test it on 975. The Quad GT didnt like my Conroe-L :/

But I am hurrying up with finishing a rig for a friend, so I can test the GSkills on a P5B-E Plus as soon as I am done.

yah it works great on p5k deluxe, but not on P35-DQ6. Hopefully a gigabyte bios update will fix.

Very nice review. They have the same heatspreader like my G.Skill 6400 HK, G.Skill seems to use this new design on most of their sticks.

If you want to test them on 680i SLI, just visit me!
