    XFX nF680i rev. D00

I have a done a quick test on the XFX nF680i rev. D00, I'm impressed with the results.

The board is, of course, based on the NVidia reference board and was the the revision, so I bought it for my QX6700.

First I test it with Dual Core to see the improvements, with my EVGA 680i previous revision (C00) this particular E6700 did not pass 470FSB

Here is a photo of the setup used :

Now on some results all air cooled

    500 FSB / 4.Ghz air easy - nice

Let's see how far my old Corsairs 8500C5 go with 2.45v

    DDR2 1210 4-4-4 not bad at all

Next I will test with with the QuadCore and maybe put it on the Mini-Cascade that is in Ricky's house for QuadCore compressor upgrade

Revision D00 (A1 on US) NForce680i reference boards are realy the best choice for QuadCores.

With my QX6700 (that didnt pass 320FSB on EVGA rev. C00 board) I can get more that 430Mhz of FSB !!

This was Air Cooled with moderate voltages, with better cooling / voltage can get even more.

As you can see on CPU-z, I update the bios to EVGA P27, since they are both NForce680i reference boards, they aceppt bios from other manufactures with no problem at all

With stock XFX bios (simliar to P26, compiled in the begining of March 07 ) I also get 430FSB..

if it is reference board? what are the improovements that let you get more FSB?? didnt EVGA also make a new revision to allow more FSB?.

what are the volt limits? vmem 2.45v or 2.5v?

It's a reference board of course

The D00 revision have the GTL mod done, that improve a lot FSB on Quad's

EVGA also make / market D00 reference boards of course

2.5v max Vmem as all 680i reference boards

Now that is nice for the quads, thanks.

I was stuck with the same problems on my B3 QX6700 and 122-CK-NF68-A1 eVGA 680i board. 330 max, using a TT120, stable. I could POST at 350FSB but very unstable, screwed up my windows install the last time I tried it.

Any change in mem ratios? Tried above 500FSB yet?

Are you sure is the latest revision?
Check what is printed with PCB
330 was the limited of my QX6700 with non-revised boards

Mem ratios work fine - but with some holes, from 370 to 390.
    1:1 no holes

    Max with QuadCore around 440

    Max with DualCore around 510

Yeah it was the first one, not this new revision definitely. I sold it back then when it performed weak on the quads. First few attempts I couldn't hit past 3400 on that MB and my quads had done 4100 custom WC'd already so I knew its the board.

I'm waiting for the DFI RD600 and R600s now I know the ICFX3200T2R/G can get over 505FSB on C2Ds, not seen or heard about quads though. The problem is I need an MB thats CrossFire optimized, ATI chipset handling Intel CPUs and yet with two full PCIe x16 lanes.

I have been saying that the EVGA A1 680i boards are some of the best boards for Quadcore clocking for some time now, but the new P35 boards(P5K DLX etc) are even a little faster still than the A1 680i boards are.

I am glad to see others here on the forums enjoying the A1 680i

KTE man, be careful with the DFI RD600 the voltage limits that FCG puts down are NOT suggestions if you wish to use that board 24-7, the DFI RD600 will not really run 24-7 @ 500 FSB, but does run the quads very fast. If you are still looking, I would stay away from the RD600 if you really can, it is a very complicated board, that is very easy to over volt, and in the end, it is still slow.

The P35 boards seem to get 8x/8x crossfire with the bridge chip, IMO I would get one of those.

fhpchris do you have any idea if all XFX 680sli come with the GTL mod for quads?

I do not, and my personal quad and EVGA A1 crashes in windows with only 400 fsb, so not all cpu/board combos will do 440 (I didn't try hard, I only set 8 multi and 1.5vfsb in bios)

ok i have to say this because i see something i dont think is possible on air.
not for a dual core or a quad core, ESPECIALLY not a quad core.

you have 1.57v vcore but your core temps,, all 4 of them are only 45-47c

    sorry but thats not right.

they cant run that cool even on water. even a dual core cant run that cool @ 1.57v

well the dual core's can but you will have to have a very cold room and a good water loop.

1.57v creates an insane amount of heat on Conroes, Kent's and others.

those temps cant be right pedro.

i also know from my own experience, on air or water that 1.57v under load creates an insane amount of heat too,, 1.57v under full load will put you way into the 80c area especially on air,, water mid 70's.

and those quad cores run hotter than the devil so.... im doubting your "on air" statement without it being icy cold in your room.
