    Is it Micron?

I picked up a 2GB kit of SuperTalent PC6400 for a nice price of $219. This RAM used to always be Micron D9 IC's... as of late, there is rumours of Nanya chips being used also.

I need to find out if this memory is Micron so I can decide if I want to keep it or return it, if it's not Micron, it's not any good to me so why keep it.

Problem: I don't have a board with DDR2 I can test them in right now, the only time I can test them is for an hour tonight on a friends computer before he has to leave... I need to find out tonight, so I can return to it tommorow. Since I can't take the heatspreaders off, the only way I can find out is through overclocking it.

The board my friend has doesn't have any crazy voltage options however, so testing with 2.0V+ is probably out of the questions. Could you users with Micron D9GCT, D9GMH, D9GKX, D9DQT, etc. please tell me what speed you can reach at 1.8-1.9V with agressive timings...

This is the only way I can think of to test if they are indeed what I want... if you guys have any other ideas on how I could find out, it would be a huge help...

Super Talent T800UXGC4 is the model...

Il will be very hard to see.
For very low vddr, I think thank you may do the difference in 5-5-5-15 timings.
    D9GCT D9GMH and D9GKX will all do more than 550Mhz with 2.0V.

Maybe the PROMOS chips can't do that...

you do realise that you got fooked right up your arse on that ram. i mean way up into your small colon.

its like 99 bucks at mWave

and no its not Micron, its super crap IC's that do NOT oc for nothing.

unless its their SuperTalen high end stuff. and even then i am not aware that its micron.

if you want micron go find a sale at newegg or similar for some Gskill 6400 HZ's. 100% micron D9GMH

First off, I live in Canada, I can't buy from newegg. It's a good price. The only thing better was Firestix on NCIX and they got sold out in 3 minutes.

Second, what are you on? Look at ramlist.ath.cx/ddr2.

    Nanya ?
    Micron D9GCT (B6-37E)
    Micron D9GMH (B6-3)
    Micron D9GKX (B6-25E)
    Micron D9DQT (BT-3)

Yeah, those sure are some crappy IC's. . In the past, they were Micron D9. It's only lately that their might be a chance they are Nanya, and that's what I want to find out.

The ICs we found are most likely ProMOS. I edited my RAM List accordingly.
Found in a SuperTalent T800UX2GC4 kit with blue heatspreaders, as shown in this picture:

Unfortunately I can't tell you which ones do have Micron.
It would still be a guess, so I'd have to agree with the advice Lestat gave you: buy a different kit with a much higher probability of getting Micron.

I know for a fact however the RAM does come in Micron D9 variety as my friend has the same kit only purchased 7 months ago, we pulled the spreaders on his. His had blue heatspreaders also, they all do... the only difference on his kit was that the white sticker had less information on it =p

Anyway, I'm testing it right now.

    3-3-3-8 2T 315MHz @ 1.95V is what I have right now.

I'm not going to spend a whole lot on RAM, if it's Micron and a good price, by all means I'll take it. If not, it, I'm not spending $300 on memory, I'll get Value Ram instead and deal with loose timings.

So do I. I'm the author of the list you linked to in your previous post.

I'm only telling you that you shouldn't buy this memory if you want to be 100% sure in getting Micron.

No, not all of them. Some of SuperTalent's T800UX2GC4 kits have silver-colored heatspreaders:

I'm telling you this because these generally have Micron. As far as I know all of them do.

Like I said, It would just be a bonus if they were Micron. I'm not going to spend $300 on a kit to get Micron, I thought I would take a shot and see if I could find out, just incase they sold out and I missed the boat. I will just return them and buy 2GB of Value Ram if they turn out to not be Micron.

I have never seen any Silver ones, and I have seen a lot of these sticks , though, I wish I did, they are pretty.

Since we can't say for sure what IC yours are using, why don't you test it to see how far it clocks?

There are lots of non-Micron ICs that clock well these days too, so i don't quite understand why you feel you should return your kit when you haven't even tested to see how far you can get...

Please see post #6. 3-3-3-8 315MHz @ 1.95V. That's the max voltage I had to play with. The board was also junk and for some reason would just not allow me to use the DDR800 divider and the board crapped out at a relativly low HTT so it was impossible for me to test them at high frequencies.

I only have 5 days to decide if I want to keep these sticks, or be stuck with them. I don't have a board to test them on, my only DDR2 board is in need of repair (AOpen YDG..) I did all the testing I could do last night, which was unfortunatly not very much due to such a crappy board.

I'm just going to return them tonight/monday. I picked them up on a whim, impulse buying is bad I guess but it seemed like the chance at getting nice RAM at a good price was just too much to pass up and I would have regretted not giving it a shot. They had about 20 kits at the store, if I ever want to try again, I can.

i'd keep them. Even the Elipda's do atleast 900 mhz. I got to play around with my friend's lowend system I built, Foxconn 965AA, 1gb Adata vitesta. That Vitesta is known to have elipda chips, but it hit 450-460 FSB 1:1 ratio. Not bad... 900, 920 mhz on elipda's on a crap ass motherboard? I don't think that was the limit either, since the motherboard was really flaky when we started overclocking.
