P5B-E Asus motherboard...looking for optimal settings for DDR2-800 ram

    Hi there,

I have a P5B-E motherboard from Asus with the latest BIOS (v1101) and an E6400. I overclocked the FSB to 333. See pic:

This is the RAM I have:

    Brand G.SKILL
    Model F2-6400CL4D-1GBPK
    Type 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM
    Capacity 1GB (2 x 512MB)
    Speed DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
    Cas Latency 4
    Timing 4-4-4-12
    Voltage 1.9V - 2.0V

The issue I am having is that I can get the memory to boot at PC-5300 at 4-4-4-12 but not at PC-6400. Is there a way to do this with this ram and still overclock the BUS for the processor? I currently have the voltage at 2.1v.

Or, would I get better timings at 5-5-5-15 at PC-6400?

Thanks a ton. BTW, all the rest of the ASUS timing settings are default aside from the main four above.

Here are the other screen shots from my CPU-Z readout:

When I boot up...it shows PC-5300. If I do not overclock and set the timings back to 5-5-5-15 then it shows PC-6400 at the BIOS post screen...what am I missing?

    SPD is set as 5-5-5-15
user need to manually set to 4-4-4-12 and change voltage to 1.9-2v
    if you use FSB266 DDR2 800 it will show PC2 6400
    if you use FSB333 DDR2 800 it will show PC2 5300
it is becuase you overclock your FSB and affect the NB memory divider

Ok...forgive the inexperience on my part. Are you saying that by overclocking the FSB to 333, then the RAM is actually transferring at a slower rate of 5300?

What are my optimal settings for this RAM if I wish to overclock my processor?

Also...what about the timing settings after the initial 4? I have 10-10-10-10, etc.
