    Msi P6n Sli-fi

I will be providing results and information with this new 650i board. Its the least expensive of all the 650i offers, I got it when it was $111 on newegg (and no thats not open box). However, I will need some help though, because none of my temperature readings are right, and cpu-z is even reading things wrong. If anyone knows of a version of cpu-z that works correctly on this chipset, or core temp, let me know and ink it. Cpu-z keeps jumping from 1800x9 to 1200x6, and core temp and speedfan both show my temps at 2c/2c.

Processor is E4300, will start clocking and show results as I go. What should all my chipset/fsb and whatnot voltages be set at. My 1st goal is 2.7ghz, because
thats where I hear you have to start pumping up the cpu voltage.

Go into BIOS and disable EIST and C1E, this is the cause of the multiplier changing, basically ramps the MHz down in idle to save power.

    Disable if OCing too.

Ok, did that, now its showing the multi staying at 6, and every time I boot it shows me message "200mhz system bus processor detected, this cpu is not supported by this board and system performance will be impacted". Holy S, does this mean 800mhz fsb processors arent supported? Should I jut go ahead and do the pin mod?

    Update

Use cpu-z version 1.38 with this board, it displays information properly, 1.39 does not. Also, core temp seems to be working better now, but doesnt seem to move from 2c until things start to heat up. Maybe this chipset doesnt report lower temps very well.

Yuck it up pal, if it weren't for adventurers like me, who would have ever known about boards like the Asrock Dual Sata, tForce 6100?

Will have to be a very good board for it to beat the P5N.

However if it doesnt have the vdroop issues that the P5N has then it could be a winner

on my system Vcore droped from 1.28V to 1.27V with Orthos Small FFT test.
readings are from speedfan so they might be off. if they are correct this board is getting more awesome

Cpu-z shows my voltage jumping all over, between 1.328 and 1.424. Speedfan shows it between 1.33 and 1.42. I hope this is software just being silly, because cpu-z 1.39 didnt even work right with this board, showed my multi at 6 even though it was locked at 9. Using 1.38 right now. What are you NB/SB/FSB voltages at? I'm at 300x9 right now, took me a while to get into windows at this speed.

    NB goes to 1.5V
    SB 1.7 Volt
    Vdimm does an incredible 2.8V

@op1e, cpuz 1.39 work fine for me, only the Vcore read out is way off.
    i use 1.25NB, 1.5SB, 1.9V Vdimm, 101 PCIe freq and FSB VTT 0%

I'll check the max when I get back into the bios. I'm pretty sure the voltage thing is just cpu being dodgy. Speedfan shows a constant 1.46 under orthos load, while cpu-z shows 1.2. This system wouldnt get through a minute of orthos at that voltage, and it just passed the Self Test 8k. Voltage seems to be solid at load, but fluctuates at idle. I much prefer that to the other way around. Another thing I notice is my 12v rails seem better on this setup. Multiple apps showed my 12v dipp down to 11.71 on my DFI Infinity/opty165.
Three different apps show it at 12.23 now.

if im not mistaken Vcore is + 0.4V.
and ask op1e for fsb, the option to lower multi in the bios doesnt work well.
i can only lower to 14 multi so i'll never hit high fsb with this cpu

I chnged multi to 8 and nothing happened, showed 8 in bios and 9 in windows. Cant for the life of me get into windows at anything over 2.7. Tried maxing vcore and NB, nothing. Maybe I need to raise FSB voltage. Also, what should cpu/ldt spread spectrum be set to, disabled? Running out of ideas an patience right now. I'm guessing this board doesnt like e4300 till bios update. Maybe I should try FSB mod on this chip.

Finally broke the 2700mhz barrier this setup was giving me. Takes a hard boot though, just like the old Dual Sata used to with the first ocwb1 bios. Had to shut off psu and then fire up. Unfortunately my water block is not making good enough contact and I gotta tear this whole thing apart again. Waiting for a back plate to come in the mail, so I'm just using nuts atm.

    Thumbs up Update

The pin mod really did the trick. This board will need a bios update to overclock the e4xxx series past 300 FSB. Now starting to get a respectable overclock, and I dont see any vdroop in cpu-z or speed fan. The motherboard must have some kind of energy saving feature or something that undervolts at idle, because once orthos is running i never see it move. Self Test 8k passed and moving up.

sorry my bad mate. you take me wrong bud only meant it as a joke.
its good you are willing to try out the more obscure motherboards, hopefully you will get it running better with a little tweaking.

edit:didnt see the above post, nice going.
