Asus EZ Flash 2 freeze with usb drive

Ok I just picked up this brand new p5b deluxe for my friend. He has the same setup as me. I used this usb drive before and it worked fine on my motherboard. For some reason his motherboard doesn't like usb drives and ez flash 2 will freeze when we use a usb drive. Any fix for this? We updated the bios to 0804 through windows and it was fine. Just like to know why is the usb drive not working in ez flash or oc profile. I tried formatting the usb drive as FAT32 and FAT already. No go, freeze with either one. I've tried two different usb drives as well. Also tried other usb ports. These drives work fine in windows.

and by the way my rom type is SST 25LF080.

I had no problem like this on my old board. But this new one is giving me trouble. Anyone here has the same problem? I'm using a 1gb usb drive. I also tried a 128mb stick as well, no go.

Are you using a frontal USB.
Use the default at the back!

I did use the EZ 2 times and no problem at all.

I did use my MP3 player Sandisck Sansa as Usb flash memory.
The P5B didnt reconized it on the frontal USB, just on the back.

What do u mean by "freezes" exaclty? Does EZ flash recognizes the drive but freezes when trying to load the bios or it doesn't recognize it at all?

BTW EZ flash doesn't require to use the back usb ports. I allways flash through front usb without any probs on three diff asus m/b's i have.

It doesn't load the usb drive and it just hangs/freezes at the ez flash screen. What rom type do you guys have?! I tried exchanging motherboards and same thing. I tried front and back usb slots, same results.

Here's how to find your rom type:
Just load a bios and don't flash yet.

DAMMIT! Finally found the problem. I was using the BLACK sata port. Put all my hard drives on all the red sata ports and problem solved! Thanks for the help though guys. Damn this problem got me running around and exchanging motherboard and doing all sorts of things. Man I hate messing with this stuff. Not gonna touch my computer anymore for a long time once I get everything nice and stable.
