new system, first ever mod, ek 8800 block

Just got it up and going im post more after some 2142

    vertical video card mod

    pci-e cable i gt at rackmountmart http://rackmountmart.stores.yahoo.net/r11u1slotpci.html
it comes i 3 sizes or you can get a custom legnth,,, if not from them i saw it somewhere else,,, the part is made by someone and is sold other places also...

i will post pics of how i did it and what i used to make video card supportage (weight)

the support on the left side,, vga plug side the vga female screw-in's are attached to the case
    (see pic 3 second post)

the support on the right side is part of a sunbeam pci rack that i cut up one of the things for
NOTE between the card and metal part there is a O-RING,,, so the card cant accidentally bridge a connectin to the support leg
    (see pic2 second post)

i will clean up the light wires later also

    playing bf2142 and 95 fps

May I be the first to say, I'm thoroughly confused.

It definetely looks very nice, though.

looks nice, is that the only reason for the change?

very nice, really shows up the water block nicely...

you ever thought of simply propping the card up with a piece of plexi tube ect...

That looks really nice, but it looks unusual so I think I must get used to the look to really like it..

So, is the waterblock the only reason for the vertical video card?

It definatly is an original idea.
    Looks cool
But... if i was you i just turned the card up side down so you just could see the waterblock but still in a more efficient place.
Also wonder or the SB and NB get proper cooling with this setup ?

Those ribbons are mainly used for PCI-e raid controllers.
    Could buy them here http://rackmountmart.stores.yahoo.net/r11u1slotpci.html

yup thats where i got it

So, is the waterblock the only reason for the vertical video card?
that and it runs 200% faster...... lol joke joke

also i dont care much for sb/nb cooling,,, im not a big overclocker (dont yell at me lol) but im happy without it,, for me this sys is done maybe nexttime il go with one of the upsidedown cases so i can see the gpu block and do the nb/sb cooling next time if i go for max o/c

basically i had the gfx block in the mail and i was thinking ,, crap im not even going to be able to see the block in the standard setup,,, then i almost droped 2 hundo or more on the lain-li upsidedown motherboard case and window befor i thought of this 60$ alternitave, i like my case anyway, it was fun. nexttime il looking forward to a bigger case and maybe 2 loops, this case is full

Wow.. I'd been thinking about pci-e ribbons for a while... are there varikous lengths?

Like could you technically run the card out of the case? There has to be some way of making what is often the most expensive component a showpiece.

Hmmmmm... 95fps BF2142? My dual 7900gs's which are supposed to perform better than a 8800gts don't get that much, even when overclocked to 650MHz. Well maybe its just that I put quality higher than you. Oh and BTW, the coolant doesn't look very red... anyways, the lights make it look red anyways
