ASUS Announces 100% All High-quality Conductive Polymer Capacitors! P5B-Premium

Quote:
Asus reveals officially its mother charts Windows Vista at the time of THESE. The manufacturer intends to quickly develop a whole line of mother charts Windows Vista with four key functions which we will develop in the lines which follow. But first of all let us reconsider the arrival of the P5B Premium, a mother chart which succeeds the P5B Deluxe and exploits a chipset INTEL P965. This mother chart is distinguished from the P5B Deluxe by its embarked Vista functions. Thus the P5B Premium has a connector TPM which will accomodate module TPM making it possible Vista to ensure the encryption of the data on the hard disks via the function BitLocker Drive.

Better, as we annonçions it to you a few weeks ago, the P5B Premium will be delivered with a module of memory flash directly connected to the chart. Integrating 512 Mo of memory flash, the module in question is compatible with the ReadyBoost function of Windows Vista and thus makes it possible to accelerate certain operations of the system. Asus recycles in the passing the remote control which accompanied until now the P5W-DH Deluxe by delivering a new version provided with new keys dedicated to the fast launching of application or to the deactivation and the alarm clock of the system.

Doesn't this make sense? How much more does it cost these manufacturers to use these? When you are buying millions at a time I'd think that cost difference wouldn't be that much. It certainly shouldn't be that big of a difference to justify the additional cost to consumers.

Quite a fanfare, that was. Just to say they've welded some memory and new fancy capacitors to it. ASUS must have hired the bloke in charge of BMW advertising.

The amount of Asus mainboards being released lately is redicolous. I would be very dissapointed to see that a new P5B is being released a few weeks after I just got the "old" one.

They are releasing new boards faster than new bios :/

I wait for the P5B SuperUltra Deluxe Premium MegaEdition V2.0 (released in 2 months after Ultra Deluxe and Premium Deluxe MegaEdition V1.0)

You're totally right, they should concentrate on 1 or 2 good boards and not making more and more different ones.

and what makes it any different than the aluminum polymer caps that DFI, Epox, Gigabyte, MSI, and foxconn uses?

Well, I don't know about the capacitors Asus uses, but ABit uses among some caps I can't identify, some sanyo os-con SEP, the best there are for digital PSU. The same caps can be found on high end gfx cards.
Very high ripple current and very low ESR are the words of the game. You may compare the datasheet of the SEP to those of others if you feel like.

This one be high quality. Meaning, it would blow up in a million years.

ummm no, the longest lasting caps are Mica/glass caps but they are only expected to last 100 years (some people say forever though) but they are far from compact or from being remotely cost effective.

A single 6.8uF mica capacitor costs 498eur. And it's huge.
Don't even think about a 470uF mica one

why not? maybe we can use it to beat some sense into people who think that Caps are going to actually last

Well, that would also mean to help you beat myself...
I also believe the organic/solid polymer caps have a much longer lifespan than the standard alu ones, but it really doesn't matter, I don't plan keeping any board for 30 years
At the same time, these caps also mean better quality, and that is not a bad thing to have especially on a mainboard.

what are you ranting about now? these solid caps would have much better electrical performance, and they CANT leak, bulge, or pop like electrolytics can.

IWill used these in some of their server boards a year or so back. From what I heard, they were very good.

It will still have vdroop and limited by the cpu, but hey you will get to walk around feeling a little lighter...because of an empty wallet.

you forgot the p5b-e plus and the p5b deluxe wifi ( yes in germany if you buy a p5b deluxe you get it without the wifi module ).
so it would be P5B, P5B-E,p5b-e plus, P5B Deluxe,p5b deluxe wifi, P5B Premium.
imho this is just insane, in the time of the p4 you had p4c800 and p4c800 deluxe and that was it. their starting to act like ea, no bug fixes, no decent support, way overpriced ( striker is 340 euro's here in the netherlands ).
