i've hit 4.1 gig with Titan Amanda tec cooler

I've had this dream...and that is to get to 4 gig without switching to water. I've had this tec cooler a whole month and been wanting to try it bad. I saw no review with it on c2d only amd so i was interested to find out what it could do. I been waiting on a corsair 620w psu before i could try it. I knew tec put out alot heat and so wanted a quality psu before i try. To this point i had 3.7ghz with a noctua-nh-12 55c on idle so i wanted to try the tec to see if i could get much closer to 4gig. I heard good reviews but only with amd and wc users were keen to put it down due to it being a low powered tec etc. That didnt put me off i was keen to prove them wrong and get to my 4 gig. I went through a spell of desperation and been desperate at times and looked around for new products and this is when i grabbed this titan. I read all the reviews and was keen to see what its potential was. I had delays and so surprised no reports on the c2d published were not published still. I also been waiting on a rma p5b deluxe back which prevented me testing this titan a month back.

    p5b deluxe wifi
    e6400 c2d
    g.skill 2gb hz series
    corsair hx620w
    titan amanda tec cooler

I had it installed in a kandalf case and the titan 120mm fan lined up with the exhaust 1200mm fan perfectly. A couple of 120mm fans blowing in the front and a corsair 620w psu.

I also lapped my cpu, this has made a difference too im sure. I only tried it lapped so i dont know the results if i had not lapped it.

Now previously with the first p5b and noctua-nu12 i got the maximum of 468fsb with no lapping.

So with new p5bd back not bothering to as5 the nb and sb and not replace with my zalman flower nb i proceed with everything on auto at 450fsb from memorised bios settings and went from there. It posted. I try 475fsb it posts. Thats 3800mhz. So i keep going only thing i had altered at this stage was to put divider at 1:1. At this stage im going wow i beaten my previous best and all on auto too. Vcore was showing 1.55 and temperature 55c. I now enter 500fsb i thought no way but still. It beeps it posts!!
No Wayyyy. I like nahhh its not happening. So i try more 510fsb it posts 4080mhz. ok lets try 520fsb yes it posts 4160mhz. I boot up into xp no problems. Its stable no reboots yet got to do more testing. Now all this time temp of vcore has been 55c no matter what the speed so it obvious the tec was kicking in, cooling and maintaining that same temp wether it 3.6 or 4gig. I havent even used better cooling on the nb yet. I'm impressed.

Its worked out a treat its nice to be proven right. I got to 4 gig and beyond. hehe

I try manual settings this week. Potential to go more. I post results this week.

    Heres pics.

No, it is a tec cooler. For some reason, people seem to get the idea that tecs are only for W/C. Thermoelectric is just a result of two different metals with a current passed threw it. It doesn't mean W/C or air cooling.

yes what i meant to say it tec with an aircooler. your absolutely right it still the peltier effect. just this time with heatpipes. what im saying its only a 60w tec not like the 226 tecs you get with water.

its one way to go without switching to water. to those who think it expensive. a tuniq tower and 2 nexus fans works out the same price.

the tec keeps it at 55c wether it idle or load. it just turns up the cold supplying more volts.

I think some peeps here are confused or aint read other threads here.
This cooler is classed as air its not a normal TEC where you need major power or creates condensation, it runs at just right temp to do the job in hand it runs as a AIR cooler and turns TEC side on and off when needed.

Ther is a few threads here on it.

roflmao why don't you try that? Your CPU will be toast, because that aircooler can't handle a big TEC!

I said more powerful, I did not specify a high power 220w+ unit.

I expect it should handle a 120w or so tec well enough though.

From my understanding a TEC will pump some amount of heat regardless of load or not. Well actually since its performance changes with temperature it probably varies a bit. But a decent sized TEC would probably burn up.

you better to go watercooling in the long run. i get 37c on water at 4gig (plus i cooled my gfx card by half) compared to 55c with amanda. wc rig is in my sig. if you cant afford wc'ing go with the amanda its very reliable and stable.
