    OC Report: Geil Ultra DDR2 PC2 6400 CL4 2x1GB

Hi everyone today I would like to introduce very popular model of ram memory in Poland. Relatively high clockers with medium price

    Some photos:

    Now lets start this play

    Test configuration

    all A/C

    Setting alpha latency...

    Horrible job

I found out that this combination is most stable in all cases
    (in P5B Deluxe bios)
    3/4/5
    3/4/5
    3/4/5
    13
    3
    6
    13
    13
    10

    First try -> 2,2v (2,25v in bios) 3-3-3-13

    Max stable for 24/7

    Losing timings to "4-4-4-13"

    And last lap... 5-5-5-13

And here I was quite disappointed, losing timings didn't gave any mayor boost in MHz. I was forced to raise vdimm to 2,3v real (2,35v in bios). And it bore this score...

Raising vdimm with 4-4-4-13/3-3-3-13 didn't cause any extra MHz, but only stability issue

This 3 scores are entirely stable for 24/7

In addition these sticks don't boot at 2,4v real (2,45v in bios). And on 2,35v (2,4v in bios) they occur errors in Stress Prime 2004 ram test.

    Summing up

This memory is based on Elpida chips.

    With regards
    Michael

    Nice work
I have been waiting for long time to find a review for that memory it only costs 220$ and gives good oc
Any way have you ripped of the heatspreaders

No because it will avoid my varranty... and heatspreaders in geil are so week and poor that when I try to pull them off, they deflect and broke

But for 1000% they are based on Elpida chips and BrainPower PCB

And BTW, this memory hates Biostar Tforce 965PT, I can't achieve 1:1 400 MHz...

Don't listen to any "Ram list" etc. Geil only guaranteens 2,1v and it's Elpida for sure. It hates "custom" latency like 4-4-3-8, hates low tras, hates Volts... so guess what it can be?

    Geil Ultra+ 3-3-3-8 PC6400 are on D9

How good are those regular DDR2-800 Geils, like [url=http://geilusa.com/proddetail.asp?linenumber=71]this[url], im planning to get these budget modules and hoping they do atleast 450fsb on a DS3

    My friend's set is doing 500 5-6-6-18 2,3v... I assume it's promos

some are based on powerchips, and work fine till 2.4V. My twinmos twister (powerchips ICs) can do DDR2 900 1.9V CL5, so not too bad. Much more with a higher voltage. The Geil sticks should do pretty much the same. If you happen to buy the sticks based on different ICs, then their results may be a tad different, yet DDR2 900 won't be a problem.

That's pretty damn decent for Elpida!

Have you removed the spreaders to confirm?

    Nvm i see you haven't.

Sorry, but till you do that, i'm not gonna believe you, since afaik, elpida has never gotten that far.

you must be joking. Elpida can hit over DDR1000 easily and so can other ICs such as promos, powerchips, hynix, let alone micron.

    G.Skill HZ is Elpida?

    Since when?

Now i didn't know DDR2-1000+ was common with Elpida, so please hook me up with links showing this if it's so normal.

The newer one (HZ PC6400 Green 6 layer PCB) are also on Elpida. The age of cheap micron is finished

Holy crap, this result rocks Maybe another good player with DDR2?

No that is not a new player that is some lucky guy with strange ICs so far I can’t imagine a Mosel to run at those speeds

    Hi, have P5B Deluxe bios 0711 and this Geil 2*1GB DDR2-800 CL 4-4-4-12 GX22GB6400UDC

    I try set in bios:

    cas latency - 4
RAS to CAS delay - 4
    RAS precharge - 4
    RAS activate - 12
    write recovery time - 6
    TRFC - 42
    TRRD - 10
Rank write to read delay - 10
read to precharge delay - 10
write to precharge delay - 10
    Static RC - Auto

Change only basic setting 4-4-4-12 another values are same as default set by bios.
Ram frequency set on 667 - want find max stable MHz
Cpu Xeon 3060 (266*9) run stable orthos 12h. on 3,2GHz (isnot max).
I go up with FSB from 266 to 303*9 - divider 667 that is freq. RAM 760 - when run orthos after few seconds crash with this set. I think that have bad set RAM in bios (mean TRFC, TRRD and next values).

I read your setting from memset,
can you post me best setting which I must set in bios for
    4-4-4-12
    and
    5-5-5-15
Want find max MHz for CL4 and CL5

    Thanks for your(s) reply

In my case overclocking on Tras=12 sucks, 13 is ok (boost about +/- 50 MHz on Cl4 )

    yesterday I try my memory,
home I have this Geil and yet kingston HyperX CL4 750 - this run much users about 940 with 5-5-5-15 2,1V - good price / OC
I try first set this kingston, look to your thread and set 5-5-5-15-6-42-6-13-13-10 2,1V with this set I set divider in bios 667 and go up to memory 940 (first test) and orthos run good without errors after 4 hours with divider 667 !!!
so than i take out kingston and give in P5B this Geil
    cmos reset,
set in bios values as for kingston, first try basic timing 4-4-4-13-6-42-6-13-13-10 , again divider 667, memory try test in real 402Mhz DDR 802 - but orthos after few s. errors and stoped,
than try 5-5-5-15-6-42-6-13-13-10 - again orthos errors
last 4 values try change 6-10-10-10 or 12-15-15-15

do not know why with kingston is all Ok nad with Geil not
