Commando Results by Tony and Andre (and others...)

Asus have released what i feel is the ultimate i965 board. Part of the ROG line of boards this has to be the best ram overclocker i have tested to date. 1300+ DDR is quite possible with this board with good memory and 1100+ with 4x1gb flex from OCZ was fully 24hr prime stable.

I have a feeling this may be the ultimate i965...check the link for a pic, as i quoted for RD600 i will be testing over the next few days, if Asus allow benches to be posted you will have more info soon.

Check the link for the pic

You are going to see a respin of many i965 boards real soon, i even saw Gigabyte have new i965 which is also an awesome overclocker

Good times ahead thats for sure.

this should be more or less bug-free and almost ready to go? The chipsets have had time to mature?

Awaiting more details very eagerly

yeah Have seen Abits new one too

AB9 QuadGT:
updated AB9 board, better layout. Supports Quad core, and has 2 PCIe 16x graphics slots (only 8x bandwidth to each). Has Silent OTES. Maybe uses ICH7R (instead of ICH8) to add IDE slot and 2 less SATA ports without using extra controller. This would help accomodate 2 PCIe 16x slots as well.

I'm seriously hoping you are way different than Asus engineers who are going to let their own RD600 or 680SLI compete with DFI's Lanparty and this is a cheaper board.

Now they just need SLI support for the 965 with 2 x16 PCI-E lanes for this to be the ultimate set-up.

Tony, any hints are the ram clocking abilities of this board vs RD600 and 680i? And how about it's performance per clock in comparison?

How do you get companies to send you product to test???

I would love to be able to get stuff for free/cheap(reduced price) and test and promote it....

if you have any "Toys" u aint using... u could always send them my way

I think this motherboard will kill my hopes of the RD600 because the ASUS motherboard will at least have more support, I think.

Yeah they are afraid. Releasing a board with good performance means they are afraid to their tummies

Tony is a OCZ Technology employee.
They work together with some motherboard manufacturers to improve their RAM compatibility and performance.
Thus their personnel, and Tony get some stuff before the public gets a chance to find them in the market.

Only Manufacturers employees, hardware reviewers, and beta testers receive "free hardware" [ with a purpose ofcourse ]

back on topic now

Asus providing you with better support over DFI ?
How!

Asus: "abandons" motherboards with BIOS related "issues/problems", tech support ? bad response times [ over a week on simple queries ], bad replies ( they couldn't even answer to a revision related simple question ) [ nevertheless they didn't reply to some e-mails aswell...couldn't find the "appropriate" answer ? maybe :P ]

DFI: ok, the tech support gives you some stupid replies sometimes, but...
you get full BIOS support & beta BIOSes regulary, modded BIOSes aswell ( Tony aka Bigtoe ), support forums over the world ( oh, and a "official", DFI-Street ).

And...a motherboard with memory timings to tune, not a "I put random values on the missing from BIOS timings" [ check the Asus P5W DH Deluxe thread ]

Tony, seeing that you've tested both the Commando and the RD600, which one do you prefer?
