P5B Deluxe 1.65v on NB results in 1x pci-e width.

When i set my nbv to 1.65 the pci-e width drops to 1x, anyone found a fix for this, 1.55 works fine, 1.65 is the one with the problem.......anyone fix this?

Ok after playing with the settings, i found that if i set my NB volt to 1.65 i need to raise my SB volt to 1.7, anything lower results in pci-e link width to drop to 1X..........problem solved............so if anyone is raising the NBv to 1.65 you may also need to raise the SBv to 1.7......wonder is this is with all P5B's if any one tries this please post, thanks!

The 1X link width prob appears to my P5B also when i set NB @ 1.65v but raising SB's vcore even @ 1.8v doesn't help.

Edit: The solution, that worked for me, is raising pci-e freq to 102mhz. SB's vcore doesn't matter. U can try this out.

Still doesn't work. I think I got it and forgot, because it said it was at x16 afetr leaving it on for a few days, but then I hit reset to see the settings, and it wouldn't startup.

i had a weird problem. i got 1X pcie width with even 1,45 and 1,55V. then after clearing the cmos it works fine on 16X at 1,65V. also im suffering from occasional reboots/shut downs while gaming. and im using 0711 bios so the restart shouldnt shut down the computer. but mine does shut it down so the problem shouldnt be unstable OC.

Thanks to you (GAR) I just noticed I'm also having this problem! No wonder my game was so choppy today! I'll post back on what fixes it for me. My NBv is set a 1.55v btw.


Edit: Damn it! I tried raising the SBv to 1.7 and nothing. I lowered my PCI-E freq from 105 to 102 and nothing.

Edit2: Also tried raising the PCE-E freq to 108 and the SBv to 1.8 but nothing. Any suggestions (other than lowering the NBv)?


Edit3: Well it looks like all mine needed was a cold boot. After shutting down my PC last night and turning it on this morning my link width is back at 16x. All my settings are just as before. SBv is at 1.6v, PCI-E freq @ 105 and NBv at 1.55v.

I never had 1x pcie width problem with any bios. I'm running my E6600 at 3.6ghz 24/7 and i have 1.65V on NB, 2.3V on ram and 1.55V on CPU. All other voltages on auto

That has to be your overclock. Bring it down some and start gaming to see if it is still their.

This problem manifests itself as an internal BIOS bug. It has nothing to do with certain combinations of settings, rather that when you do change something it can sometimes corrects the setting that causes the problems. The only solution is to change things and reboot until you are working again. Often you can then revert right back to all the same settings after making the fix and have things "magically" work again.

Bottom line, Asus should be aware of this. I expect will we eventually see a fix in furture BIOS releases.

Mine is fixed by doing a cold restart, thats unplugging pc and powering back up, works for me 100% of the time.

Here is how I fixed my PCi-e x1 problem. I was trying to decide if I wanted to run my memory at 1:1 or 4:5. When I had it at 1:1 my PCi-e was x1. When I changed it to 4:5 the PCi-e was x16. I flipped back and forth a few times and the results were the same. I tried changing the NB vCore and it was not the problem.

major thread revival. lol. ram can't take 2.4 for long or 2.3 in most cases. you should try to run at lower volts if possible.
like freecableguy said this is a bug plain and simple and as the posts reflect it was known about last year when the boards launched and they still havn't fixed it. since their resources are focused on p35 and x-38 chipsets i doubt if it ever will be fixed properly.

and back to the ram ..you do realise that those sticks need 2.2 volts and your board only gives them 1.8 by default.(like after a failed o.c.) when the voltage jumps back to set-up defaults (the crash-free bios) the ram is only fed 1.8v and with four dimms it's no wonder it wouldn't boot. memtest those sticks before you rma them at proper settings.
