I have 3GB installed right now....and it recognizes a full 3GB sometimes and othertimes only 2.89GB.....so I do feel there is truth to varying reports that people are putting out about Vista and >2.5GB of RAM. Will it recognize 4GB? I think it's supposed to, but there's no guarantee with beta software.

I am running vista retail Ultimate and i have 4GB installed and it only reconizes 3070MB. This is the latest version of vista. Maybe 1 of these will.

    vista versions:
    business
    businesn

maybe the two version above will support past 3.0GB

Probably will need the same tweaks that you had to use for XP.

It's same as WinXp you need 64 Bit to see 4GB ram, that wasn't changed but here you have more support for 64 bit version then WinXP 64 bit.

Linux will see all 4GB in 32-bit mode

Vista will see all 4GB in 32-bit mode

all 64-bit OS's will of course see it

Windows XP SP1 will see all 4GB

WindowsXP SP2 just won't. We've tried for months and months and have had probably 100+ guys coming back and telling us the same thing...it just won't work in XP SP2.

(be aware that you really don't want to go back to pre-SP2...just don't worry about seeing all 4GB at the moment as it is XP's problem, not any hardware problem....but Vista will relieve everyone of this problem, especially since 4GB in Vista will almost be a necessity)
this is from happy games dfi support
