    ASUS First 965C2 Motherboard P5B-E FSB 500

ASUS P5B-E will use New 965C2 and the price will be between DS3 and S3.

    Specification

    Motherboard

    BIOS

    Test FSB 500

The first BIOS Memory Voltage is only 2.1V and cannot add any MCH voltage. I will ask ASUS to get new BIOS before the mobo is available on the market.

    So I only test FSB 500 DDR2 100 5-5-5-15 2.1V

What kind of changes are we going to see with the C2 stepping of the 965? I've heard of "issues" with the C1 stepping, but in plain terms, what is really wrong with it?

    Just curious, no big deal.

    Many difference are between P5B and P5B-E , such as VIA® VT6307 1394a, ICH8-R,Attansic® L1 PCI-E Gigabit LAN controller and Audio.

so it's a vanilla P5B with different LAN chipset plus VIA firewire?
wonder if it still dislikes overclocked 4M cpus P5B vanilla does.
    nice preview though.

Thanks. The second one seems pretty significant to me, although I must say that I really don't have any issues with the P965 chipset that's on my current DS3 motherboard. If it's broke, though, fixing it is good!

    Nice preview Andre

Does it have the same performance drop as P5B Deluxe over 400 FSB?

Clockgen didn't support P5B-E yet. Clock gen chip is ICS X98HH837.

Is 965 really faster than 975 clock-for-clock, or is it just me? Most peoples' 965 times seem very slow, how are you getting yours so fast?

Normally I beat most people on 965 easy, but look above at Andre, he's got me by 4 seconds somehow.

Andre, can you tell us what tRD you're running? I'm thinking the additional control over the secondary timings that the P5B allows might be the key...

High 13m I can understand because I did it (9x400 2:3 5-5-5) on a P5B Dlx, but I don't get these ~13m 10s...even at 9x400 2:3 4-4-4 it's still not even close, so 1:1 4-4-4 is a mile slower. If it could hold the 333 strap and clock up to 400 from there, it probably would, but it starts crapping out around 360-370FSB so it's either gotta be 2:3 or boot at 400FSB, which is definitely looser on the NB.

Andre, how come all your Graphics come up as 1x AGP in CPU-Z? I've been seeing that on your screenies for a week or so now and I was wondering what was up? Thanks for showing the C2...I'll be real curious how high it clocks
