Constant reboot/reset cycle (DQ6-Quad BIOS)

DQ6 and other 'quad-bios' owners (if there are other applicable MBs) and those that are experiencing the fatal 'constant reboot/reset cycle' which has resulted in the RMA of my DQ6 board and those of others in the same predicament, please see the following:

I wish I had seen or known about this before, I would have tried it before sending my board back.

If there is anyone out there currently experiencing this problem, please try the steps on page 3 (BIOS image found on CD-ROM) and advise whether this rectifies the situation and allows normal booting and access to BIOS. Obviously, in my case, the first two 'situations' FAILED!!

(PS. My supplier is trying to tell me it's not the board, yet they haven't tested anything yet. Aaarrrgh. I want my board back, workin'!!!)

I had constant reboot/reset issue with the original F2 bios, the reason for this was the memory. My G.SKILL ZX kit need 2.2V to even boot, whereas it's set to 1.8V in bios. You need a cheap 256MB stick to manually change the voltage...then fire in the G.SKILL.

I may try it. However, my board does not always do the reboot cycle, just sometimes.

got the same with ds4 and 6400...the crap was works fine with pd 805 same vga rams etc and with 2 DS4

Thank Sila, I've read your posts and posted similar myself. I just came across that Gigabyte info and thought it may be helpful.

Note, I tried different, no ram, no vid, diff slots, diff everything except CPU!!!

In hindsight I could also have tried my D805. Damn. Never the ideas when you need 'em.

Deez, it happened once or twice to me too but was recoverable (situation 1 or 2?!?!). The last time, there was no recovery no matter what.

Also note, apart from the once or twice mentioned (later in the process), I otherwise didn't have a problem booting with the HZ from the word go.

If someone experiences the 'constant reboot' cycle, with an applicable board, please try the 'original Gigabyte CD' method described--thread start(http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...nt=1)--without changing RAM or any hardware and let me know the result.

I'd like to know if this is a viable option to resolve the issue.

This happened to my new DQ6. After flashing the bios to F13D, it starts rebooting constantly with a totally balck screen.

The method described in the post totally doesn't work. Tottaly not!

It reboots before it reads the DVD-ROM.

Btw, have you gotten your board back? Was it the same one? Still good?
