It would be real helpful if you could explain in more detail what exactly these modded BIOSes do...

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is more than a little confused =)

So can you not just use Rivatuner to adjust fan speeds for these cards ?
Works fine with mine (Leadtek WinFast PX7950GX2)

Well, here is my card's bios if it's of any use:

    Leadtek WinFast PX7950GX2.zip

Maybe by -=Merlin=- can find the fan code and add it to your bios

The fans are set at 50% for low power and performance 3D and 35% for 2D.
They are contollable in Rivatuner (both fans change speed)

If by -=Merlin=- finds some free time v_gpu=1.4v would be nice in my bios

    ---------------------------------------
    Core 2 Duo E6600
    EVGA nForce 680i SLi
    Corsair Twin2X 8500C5 2GB
    Zalman CNPS9500-AT
    Leadtek 7950GX2
    2 x Maxtor 160GB SATA-II (RAID 0)
    Samsung SH-S183A 18x SATA DVD±R/RW
    Seasonic S12 600W

Well I tried using NiBiTor to alter the VID but it seems to have had no effect.
    Vcore DMM measure = 1.25v

So looks like hardware mod is only option...
    Unless by -=Merlin=- knows different
