I noticed he said that, but i'm with Haltech on this one. If you want to make a point, you stand together as a team and you do it. I understand why MM told everyone to get back, he explained it in that same thread. It doesn't seem like the right reason to me ( i.e lack of cooperation from the team's part ).
Also i couldn't shutdown during the past week since i was on holidays, and did not have any way to contact my rigs at the office ( which is great when trying to rest btw :-) )

Well, it was installed on that rig already, just had to kick it back on The rig is cooled by LS, so i do have to keep it busy at all times. Of course, i don't care installing anything else you guys want me to while we see what happens with R@H ( and same goes for my other rigs as well ).

Its nice to see some guys agree with me here. Why resume a project when nothing had been solved? Our team looks so weak its not even funny.

Yep this 'strike' was a little uncoordinated. But that doesn't take away from Daves oringal idea. (I believe James also had this idea in tandum and others). just that the days it fell on left our bigger crunchers for dead in terms of office access etc. I think we need to drive home a sure message. I haven't crunched for nearly a month now because of all this schitt. As sson as it's resolved, I hope to be back running.

EDIT: Victor... as Martijn said a selection of your finest DXs/P4's would ANNIHILATE SOB.

Has your heart restarted yet from seeing some of us agree with you?
I've got the same damned temperament as you do. I don't like being kicked in the teeth and then being told to like it.
Our differences are in how we each verbalize our same feeling.
You come out and hit it with a 10 pound sledgehammer and I'm a little bit milder than that in what I write but we are on the same page here and the thoughts that run through both our minds on this have the same 4 letter words in them. I just don't write them.
    My priorities and in order:
    1) What is best for the team as a whole even if it's not whats best for me personally.
2)Solve this issue with Dr.Baker in any way I can.
3)Let the team know how I feel.
    4) While this is being settled to go and help some of the other teams in worthwhile DC apps whether it's a day, week, or forever.
That part is all up to Dr. Baker.

Personally, I only crunch science related projects (probably because I don't understand the math ones).

Since there is nothing else out there I am excited about right now (that I think may actually do some good) I'll probably just shut everything down and fight global warming.

    Good Luck to you all!!

    Maybe I'll be back someday.

The Climate apps are very worthwhile IMO.
Nice to see you over here..
I felt like I was in a foreign country my day at Free DC and dear god, should have seen me in the DPC forum! Dutch? I am lost in Dutch!
Both forums were very kind to me.
Treated me very well and that was nice to see.

I've heard about you and your WCG advertising Ady

but it does seem like a good project. Considering you know about it can you say whether there's any difference between running the boinc client and the original one? Many have lost taste in BOINC.

No, a left over from the battle with the DPC when we all had beef in our avatars..and to remind me that I should have swiped a couple from the box that went to Jose before he got it!
Speaking of Jose, he called me last night, his ISP is down from a attack.
He also made the mistake of telling a judge what he would do with a guy that his his wife( Jose was being interviewed for jury duty)
He told the judge( are you sitting down?)
I'd hang him by his balls!
I can see the courtroom now!

I suppose I do go on a bit - but I believe in the project, the science is good, you have a choice of projects, and is a good alternative to Rosetta.

The main difference between using Boinc or the UD Agent, is that Boinc has more flexibility, seems to crunch units faster and allows for utilisation of multi-cores.

A by-product is also that Boinc appears to give more points per hour of CPU time, if that floats your boat - although to be honest its like trying to compare apples with pears.

One other thing I like about the project, is everyone wants to get on with the science, no-one seems to worry whether anyone is getting more points than another - its just not an issue - everyone is genuinely happy for other peoples/teams endevours.

Unfortunately not, to be honest the WCG Agent is old technology inherited under licence from UD - it only really exists now because of that licence and its simplicity of use for more non-techy folks to install and forget.

If you want reliable caching of work then you really need Boinc - as MM says, its very easy to use.

My last question concerning it is whats the stance on the 5.5.0 opti clients for WCG BOINC, do the top teams use it?

I'll most likely give WCG a go once I break into the top 100 in riesel Sieve and when we have succesfully held onto 1st in D2OL.

The view is, its not a problem with a quorum system - it seems to be installed on an individual, rather than team basis.

I use 5.5, but with the quorum system unless you are lucky enough to get another opti in it, then you won't get what your claiming - and if you are lucky, the little guy gets it too.

Its been discussed in a very friendly manner over there - and frankly no-one honesty cares, they just want to get on with the work....
