My personal goal complete- 3 FM Hall of Fame spots

I do not normally like tooting my own horn, but felt this being worthy of sharing. This summer, my goal was to take out three Futuremark Hall of Fame spots simultaneously. I had no idea whether it was realistic or not, but nevertheless, four processors and too many boards to count later, I nailed it.

I'm fully aware that driver issues, etc. are preventing some others that deserve to be up there ahead of me. However, some interesting things to note about my scores is that literally appear to be the highest done without the use of liquid nitrogen. On the flip side, they were done inside of a case in a 24/7 configuration, which is quite atypical for me, but I felt like trying it this time for an added challenge. The CPU is cooled by a bone-stock Prometeia Mach II (unless you consider an LCD and Lian-Li kit substantial mods ), and the video cards by regular watercooling. Another rarity is that the processor is a retail, which didn't come from any special source, simply newegg.com.

    The setup is as follows:

    Core 2 Extreme X6800 4.35GHz
    Asus P5W DH Deluxe
    Team Group Xtreem PC2 5300 395MHz 3-3-3-4
    X1900XTX+CrossFire 750/878
    Gigabyte I-Ram

    13046 3DMark06

    24397 3DMark05

    14430 PCMark05

    FYI - 42992 3DMark03. 2001SE to follow shortly.

Go for it, I got two GPU mousepots and a chilly1 CPU container asking to be dusted off.

Your 06 score is wonderful. It took me some time to match it at similar clocks...clearly very well optimized. And that too done with even more mellow cooling than mine.

thats what i like to hear when someone is presented with a challenge

in all seriousness, congrats. you set a goal and accomplished it. i like this style of overclocking and model most of my work after it. kids take lessons, achieving goals is the single most important lesson in life. set them and then do what it takes to get them like Gautam has done here and your life will be full of accomplishments. even more impressive is the setup that did it...double thumbs up for that.

Very nice work Especially considering it's a more earthly system that we can aspire to than the heavenly systems at the very top.

Thank you all. It's sort of amazing how quickly things have progressed. A few years ago, the cooling I'm using would be considered extreme, now it barely qualifies for a 24/7 setup.

Naturally I'm game. Just make sure you get in tight with your physics prof.

Thanks very much again everyone. It is an honor to be complimented by you legends- you guys really are what makes me continue to play this sport (and pi55 away the last hour hour or two of my life trying to get these last 20 points- and failing :-/)

#7 in 2001SE at 77892- but still a painfully unsatisfactory score. 78 just wasn't happening tonight. :-/ Hopefully tomorrow.

And here are some pics of the setup, not the cleanest, but we know they get worse.

Bazx, I should be able to do one step better than that, but it doesn't suit my style properly, so I feel a cascade is a must-have...been dreaming about one for years, I'll try and make it a reality as soon as I can.

Mictuzu, your benchies are amazing as always. Say hi to sang for me, I miss his ultra hardcore air benching.

One of my initial runs was done at a flat 4.4GHz with more relaxed clocks. I scored somewhere very, very close to you, maybe 77190 or so. I said this earlier and I'll say it again, SLi is EXTREMELY strong in 01, I think we all can plainly see it with all of you guys tearing it up with LN2, but that screenie you're showing makes it apparant that its virtually dead even with CrossFire given the same cooling on both. You're using 10x and I'm using 11x, but air vs water could arguably even that out. All in all even though it wrecks system tests and may not appeal to the purist, it is a very powerful solution. I can see X1950 putting an end to its reign, but nV has one big upper hand for us- no cold bugs. Then again, you Romanian folk tend to be the toughest tweakers out there, so it might be you making it look especially fast.
