    Asus P5WD DH +gskill 8500@600mhz

tried the Gskill F2-8500PHU2-2GBHZ on my asus P5wd dh deluxe today and i must say , the memory got a lot of potential.
only the asus won't let me run 500+ 1:1......no idea why

    Tech Spec
    Brand G.SKILL
    Model F2-8500PHU2-2GBHZ
    Type 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM
    Capacity 2GB (2 x 1GB)
    Speed DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
    Cas Latency 4
    Timing 4-4-4-5
    Voltage 2.4V

Very nice memory , do some 3-3-3 testing later on.

Nice, Rol-co. You should also run unbuffered test. I'm sure you will get over 6000.

this was just a quick test, more to come sierra, first i had to find out what the asus would do with this.

strange thing however is that it won't let me run above 485 1:1 just like the 8000ul, problaby a board issue.

will do unbuffered too, and some 3-3-3 testing.

485 is already a very good result with this board...

    that's a nice 2 GB kit - hopefully running 1:1 won't be a problem for the future.
finally DDR2 looks good even to me

Actually quite a few people here run 32M. You just need to look. Benchmark stability depends on the benchmark. If you're trying to break a speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats, you don't really care about 24/7 stability. Same is true for drivers at the Indianapolis 500.

Extreme benchmarking is just a hobby for most people, many of whom have more than one computer. Never assume that people are going to use just one machine for everything under the sun.

This forum has always been about pushing a system to the absolute limits, hence the name "XtremeSystems". It's only in the past year or so that newer members have tried to shift the focus.

    Here.

And please read this. I'd tried to explain to you in the other thread. I encourage everyone to take a read on this article if you're wondering why you can't keep your memory async after 370FSB, and why you can't keep 1:1 after 420FSB, etc. Unless heavily modded, 1:1 600MHz on this board with current BIOS is IMPOSSIBLE.

Excellent clocking, Rol-co. I wish I had some soldering skill.

    @lopri
yep youre right about the strap thingie but somehowe a few board's in combinaton with a sertain brand memory can get higher than the 370-420.

maximum unmodded was 454-456 , sierra bound here reach't 464 unmodded, loosing timings wil help too.
    maximum modded

As Rol-Co will tell you, each P5W DH is different. Some will do well beyond 420FSB unmodded, while others won't. Highest I've gotten my unmodded board is 460FSB @ 1:1. I've gone higher than that using another ratio. So the part about the boards not going beyond 420 1:1 is inaccurate. The article does not take into account the fact that the boards vary in overclockability. Same reason why all CPU's don't overclock the same, even though they went through the same manufacturing process.

Asus boards have always been like that. If I could, I would set up three P5W DH boards, and I'll bet you each one will overclock differently.

You are not right, my problem is not in high FSB but at default ...! I cant use 1067MHz of memory at default ... this Tonys article is not aplicable to Asus board, this board does not have a 1333 strap ...

The P5W DH does not have any NB strap settings. But there has to be a strap there, otherwise the NB would not function properly. The only way to tell which strap Asus is using is with an oscilloscope, or by asking one of their technicians.
