My 93 FD3S Mazda RX-7 R1

Hi guys, I'm new to the forums and saw this car section so I thought I might post a little background on one of the more exciting cars I've owned. I owned this 1993 Competition yellow mica Mazda RX-7 R-1 for roughly 4.5 years. I sold it in August of 2005 with 45,000 original miles on it. Hell it even had the original tires from the factory on it. Anyways, here is a few pics of the car:

The car had Tokico 5-way adjustable shocks, Racing Beat road course springs, Pettit Racing grounding kit and a silicon vacuum hose job. Its best 1/4mi on the original street tires(which had cracks in the sidewalls from dry rot and flat spots) was a 13.0@107mph. I'm certain that on slicks it would have run 12.8s@106-107mph.
Anyways, here is a video of my RX-7 racing against a 12.6@109mph full bolt on plus a cam white Mustang GT. In the video I raced against the white 12 second Mustang GT, a blue 04, 13.1 second Mustang Mach 1 and a 13.4 second Nissan 350Z. In the video I raced them from a 15mph roll, then brake-boosted from a 45mph roll. Enjoy!

Nice. I had a 93 R1 as well. Vintage Red.
Hopefully I'll get another one in the near future.

Errr. Correct me if I'm mistaken but a V8 isn't exactly going to "drop" into the engine bay of a rotary.

Actually GMs LS engines fit like it was meant to be there

i believe that ls1 fd is owned by luke lonberger who i believe can be found roaming here http://www.torquecentral.com/forumdisplay.php?f=11

But it´s crap to exchange a rotary engine with a v8... rotary is much more exclusive

I think the LS swap is kinda cool. It doesn't screw around w/ the balance of the car or anything. Cool, if you're into the LS engine.
I wouldn't do it though. I like rotaries and it's the heart of the RX-7.

Just saw the first pics of an LS7 -> RX7 swap...for those that don't know, that's the engine in the new Z06, doing 500hp N/A. Quite an upgrade from the little rotary.

I owned a 2nd gen '86 RX-7, I loved it. I could cruise at 90+ mph and I would have to look at the speedometer to know I was going over 60mph it was so smooooth. At least it was great till it broke down, lol. I would love to own a 3rd gen RX-7.
