    p5wdh vs d975xbx vs dq6 32M super comparison

those mobos are stock. no vmod at all

    lets some pictures of mobos

    DQ6

    DQ6 PIC NO2

    DQ6 PIC NO3

    DQ6 PIC NO4

    D975XBX

    D975XBX PIC NO2

    D975XBX PIC NO3

    D975XBX PIC NO4

    P5WDH

    P5WDH PIC NO2

    P5WDH PIC NO3

    1ST, P5WDH... BOOT UP AT FSB434.
    E6600 1.57v
    800 2GBHZ 2.4v
    0088 bios
    MCH 1.6v
    FSB 1.2v

    2nd, DQ6... MAX BOOT UP AT FSB400~409.
    E6600 1.57v
    800 2GBHZ 2.35v
    F2 bios
    MCH 1.2v (NORMAL)
    FSB 1v (NORMAL)

using giga's software to reach 434, it will not boot from bios with FSB over 405 (in my case, i did 416 boot up once but it is not easy, only 400 is ok)

    *****UPDATE*****
with V-MCH +0.2v, now i can boot up at FSB 433.... however, once turn off the power it will not boot up again!!
the result with FSB 433 and 1:1 same as P5WDH 3-4-3.
    32M is MUCH slower!

    still testing 304 mobo

    P5WDG
    pro:
    1. High FSB boot up! no one is going to use soft FSB set everyday!
    2. easy recovery if fail to post, 2nd post will use default setting and previous bios options saved
    3. CF
    con:
    1. High FSB over 350 can't use DDR2 1000+ option. some ram's hidding timing are not currect and result is fail to post
    2. 975 MCH requires higher voltage

    DQ6
    pro:
    1. a lot of bios options and fsb up to 600, vcore, vdimm
    2. MCH for 965 is better than 975, with normal 1.2v i can boot up to 400
    con:
    1. memory divider has same problem with 975, with high FSB can use DDR2 1000+ option... some hideing timing is not currect
    2. too many bios options are NOT working, like say 1.6v+ vcore just won't boot!!!!!!
    3. very bad bad bad bios design! you can't change all setting at once, you need to change one option, save, boot up ,change one option, save, boot up again and repeating until everything is done.... this is soooooo gay
    4. no program available for soft ram timing adjust
    5. not support 7950, CF. nor SLi
    6. back plat is not good if you wanna use TQ120!!!!!!
    7. too many... not worse to buy one....

Judging by the timings, you were running the Asus board 1:1. But the Gigabyte board was at 4:5. Wouldn't it be better to test both with same ratio.

Okay, that's what I thought. So the Gigabyte board won't boot at 434 1:1. Nice memory speed on the DQ6. But it's still more than 30 seconds slower in 32M.

Thanks for doing the comparison test. I'm sure it will help members.

    434 1:1 won't boot
anything over 400 basically no boot at all

btw i use AUTO timing for DQ6, if i mannally set in to 4-4-3 or 4-4-4 it just no boot at all

    if p5wdh with 4:5 won't boot...

every mobo has its weak part......

I can run P5W DH at 4:5 with memory up to around 480, but that's it. I think it needs voltage mod to run higher at 4:5.

    Thanks again for the info.

yeah! see high FSB over 1000+ will not boot
basically is the timing problem, becasue with low FSB such as 333 with DDR2 1066 just no problem at all...

If they could allow higher vdimm and most of all, higher fsb from the bios on the bad axe !

4 bad axe I tested all did 3.95ghz 32m (stock board except short oc debug)

Is it possible for you to monitor your temp with the bad axe using coretemp during 32m ?

tomorrow i am going to post the 304.. just too laze today...

    304 can't do over DDR2 1000 to boot... same problem with p5wdh.....
basically is the timing clock delay vs FSB

with the hidding timing, it can do 333 or 350 with DDR2 1000+ but if over this... damn the delay is too short and mobo just no post!
that is why many ppl use 304 1066 and can not use 4:5 over DDR2 1000, but 499 is 32M stable

just wanna clear up, DQ6 can do 1:1 CL3 with 400 boot up but it can't reach 434 CL3-4-3 stable pass 32M
some timing need to adjust but there is no program to do so.
from 400 to 434 soft oc you need to adjust the ram timing for sure
but in this case I can't do it, that is why i use 4:5 instead of 1:1

I'd prefer a comparison at lower speed but same setup than this.Every mobo has different results, even these from the same company/model.This is just my opinion..of course thanks a lot for the results!

that DQ6 sounds just as wacky as my P5W DH alot of the same issues you had are the same ones i have

can NOT manually set SPD timings
can boot at 400+ FSB with AUTO MCH
can NOT boot at over 410FSB nothing that i do makes it work. 1:1 or 4:5 or any ratio... nothing works.

there was some other ones ..but anyways.

wow sounds like their DS3 board is a real killer compared to the DQ6
