just curious, are all these 4 GHz + done on Intel 975XBX used clockgen?? cos i head the FSB cant be set to anything above 333MHz or 1333Mhz in BIOS

Max FSB is 333MHz + 30% in BIOS, so ~433MHz in BIOS, the rest is clockgen or raising the multiplier (assuming shamino is using X6800)Originally Posted by theteamaqua

So from 4ghz -> 5ghz your still around the same time on Pi, is there something stopping the process from being faster?

lol, is Fugger working on it too? Needless to say, someone is going to be breaking that 10s mark really soon. TAM, Kinc, Shamino, good job thus far. Lets see someone break itOriginally Posted by 5-Clicks

Well, lets look at something. TAm has the fastest PI time (10.140) but he also has a slower cpu speed then these guys (he was @ 5013). If he had sham's cpu, I think sub 10's would've been done by now. Thats how close he is.
i think we calculates 5.1ghz to break into 9s

What was TAM's ram at? I think that's the key as to why he's ahead despite the clocks. Kinc got 5ghz but with some stinky Corsair 8000UL that do only 440 3-3-2-8 or something.
Tam's was something like 440 4-2-2-x. I dont know if that same speed can be accomplished @ 3-2-2-x.
I spotted that he's got an ATi plugged into his board, I thought he was an nVidia guy? Anyway pretty awesome time.
