Foxconn C51XEM2AA + 3800+ Orleans on the test bed! Pics! (56k)

    Nice large box

    CPU

    Stepping

    2*512 5400 ballistix

    Nicely packed...

    The goods...

Wow... This package is the real deal. Everything you need. From left to right:

    COM bracket
    4x USB 2.0 bracket
    firewire bracket
    manual
    drivers
3x 4 pin molex to (2) SATA connectors
6x SATA cables with one right angled end
    IDE cable
    floppy cable
    IO bracket
    SLI bridge

The cables are nice quality as well. Not the cheap impossible to bend "round" UV ones DFI throws in the box.

4x SATA 2.0 hot swap connectors
    sideways CMOS battery (wtf?)
Power and reset switches to the left

    Molex power connector
    com port connectors
    2x PCI slots

    POST code LED readout (Nice!)
2x SATA 2.0 hot swap connectors

    2x PCIE 16x slots
    1x PCIE 4x slot
    1x PCIE 1x slot

    11x 4v560uf caps
    8x 16v1800uf caps
Lots of other electronics I don't understand

    4x DDR2 DIMMs
    1x IDE connector

    Average chipset heatsinks

4th pin on CPU fan header?

    PS2 keyboard/mouse
    IEEE1394B
    IEEE1394A
    6x USB 2.0
8 channel high def audio (likely junk) with digital optical out (yes!)
    dual gigabit ethernet

    Ready to rock!

Going to install windows now, I'll update throughout the night. If you would like to see something tested on the board just ask me. Here's what I have planned:

    Max HTT
low lat vs loose lat 32m and 3d01
    Max clocks

    Anything else?

Anyone know the read points for them on the board? Or do I have to probe around?

In due time. I'll need to make a new hold down bracket.

Installing windows now, the BIOS overwhelmed me. HTT speeds and multis for the chipsets, 7 different drive strengths each with a few different levels, and options I've never even heard of

Odd... it always hangs at "detecting array" even with all forms of SATA and RAID disabled and I can't get it to boot to a CD.

Same question here. This K9N is so bad for volt reg it just turns off when I use >1.55v. Been watching this board for a while and since DFI is so slow to get anything on the market looks like this is the way to go.

Well voltages don't even read right in CPUZ, and ntune is whacky, saying my CPU is 51c when BIOS says 33c and heatsink is cool to the touch. I need to find read points on the board.

Also, could you run sandra 2k5 and 2k7 and see if you get the same mem bandwith ? Some people have been reporting big distortions.

    Heh yeah...

Board posts FAST! From power on to loading windows is maybe 2 seconds. DFI is about 30

The SPP (black) chipset sink gets HOT! Even at stock. I put a fan over that ASAP.

"Link boost" setting of 250mhz MCP <-> SPP HT link does nothing for performance.

yup, both of the 0617 CPUs i've had (3200+ and 3500+) do 2.9GHz @ 1.55v give or take. that was on an M2N32 with a weak water setup but they did that on air too. keep the results coming, i should get to toy with one of these real soon.
