    What is the three pin connector on the XTX?

    Already posted this on rage3d but got no response yet so maybe someone knows here..




    On the right just above the red heatsink there's this 3 pin connector... what is it for...? Is it to connect a fan and if so can you control the fan speed through it..?

    Looks like something for a jumper. I doubt it's anything interesting. PAL / NTSC switch?

    one leg may be ground and one may be for vddr and one for vgpu...i don't know....did you try reading voltage off them with the card running? just a thought....

    Not PAL/NTSC....that's on the back side and MUCH smaller (and probably covered in see-through yellow tape).

    I'd also like to see what that does....just mine's off with no hope of turning on for a week or two

    I would not probe it with a voltmeter unless you know which pin is ground, imagine shorting 2 seperate voltage rails, perhaps throwing a good card down the drain..

    You can check for continuity....in fact, I think I'll go dig up my XTX and do just that.

    EDIT: none are ground and it's labeled JU[mper]7

    Id like to see someone shorting something while meassuring Voltage. Only Chuck Norris is able to do that.

    Sapphire X1800XT 256

    Pin1 - Pin2 = 0.31V
    Pin1 - Pin3 = 0.12V
    Pin2 - Pin3 = 4.54V

    Ground as ref

    Pin1 - 0.24V
    Pin2 - 0.03V
    Pin3 - 5V

    I think its a Jumper thingy. But for what I dont know.

    Anyone figured out what this is yet? Had to pull my card out to see if it was there and low and behold it was. This is one of those things that drive you crazy till you figure it out

    it's not unheard of for a noob to make a mistake, I figured I'd save someone the expense of loss. Granted this is xtremesystems, however, not everyone is tech savvy. Even an unsteady hand can be one's worst enemy at times, just ask Chuck.

    Look at Vapors (fine ) picture... it has JU7 silk'd onto the board next to it. Hence its a jumper

    The only useful thing that google chucked up was http://www.pcinpact.com/forum/lofive...hp/t82861.html (google trans: http://translate.google.com/translat...icial%26sa%3DG)

    The most useful post is grandcoincoin's where (I think, pending on a better french speaker :P) that he speculates that it caps the card's memory access to 256mb, from 512mb. He is basing this on its placement on the card.

    BTW, for those who haven't taken Physics E&M yet: an ideal voltmeter is essentially a resistor with infinitely high resistance. Thus, it's impossible to short anything out.
