    Oh lol, and i tought my Ghetto AMD cooler in intel pc with zip-ties mod was good

    Conclusion, cpu's produce hell more heatload to cooler than any graphic card at the moment, i7 980X overclocked to 4.5ghz will make that cooler to cry .

    The problem is complex, and the most important factor is the quantity of heat generated per unit of surface, wich in case of bloomfield/gulftown is huge.

    Indeed, gulftown produces high amount of heat per millimetre, think the reason this huge difference due GTX480 have bigger core area than Core i7 980X infact 980X core is tiny compared to GTX480 core, harder to dissapate the heat from small core than bigger one.
