Related but slightly off-topic, my Q6600 (L638F049) and my Mushkin RAM (2x2GB PC2-8500) arrived today which will be used on this board.

I think I'm going to return the Q6600 in favor of an X3220 (same price). Anyone here think I should do otherwise?

Just talked to DFI, they are holding some boards while they sort some bios issues, now 10 boards or so have been shipped....if you have one of these boards please stick with us as we are working thru an over clocking issue with Conroes and Quads...Allendales are fine so if you are using say a 6400 you are good to go.

So if you bought a board and delivery is now being held...you know why,please bear with us while we get the boards performing even better

All I can say is what i posted, the board will hit the market yes so its not canceled but DFI want to make sure it does well with all CPU's.

I'm not sure why they would have to hold back shipments... just ship and then provide us with a bios update... no?

I wonder how long DFI has been working on these. The first 680i boards were released 6 months ago.

I think this board has only been in testers hands for a couple of weeks. I think the 6 month delay has been 680i chipset availability, DFI wanting to wait for a silicon revision to eliminate the inconsistency with overclocking from one chip to the next, and then DFI is just plain slow. It's not like the last 6 months has been a beta test period. Only the last couple of weeks and even then only by 6 people as Bingo pointed out earlier. There will be issues with this board (as already advertised) but name a board that has launched without issues? At least I have faith that DFI will want to make this board a success and ensure regular bios updates.

1. The quality of the board is excellent, all features work right out of the box, RAID, SLI, and audio are in total harmony.

2. The board screams with a 2MB Cache C2D, but do not expect overclocking over 500FSB with them, the board can do it at low multipliers, but the strap change at 501 just kills performance. Right now, my board is extremely stable at 475~485FSB, anything higher is not possible except for a CPU-Z screen shot.

3. The board had average memory performance when overclocking with the 4MB Cache C2D or Quad Cores, the EVGA has much better memory performance above 400FSB with these chips. There are also various FSB holes with these processors and particular memory settings. That said, DFI is working overtime on these issues.

4. I really like the board, it just needs some TLC within the BIOS. If you have a Quad Core or 4MB Cache C2D and an EVGA board, do not switch yet if benchmarking is important to you.

This? Bah, that's minor issues as far as i'm concerned. I've had an evga that's been giving me major problems and i'm looking to get off their platform.
