Mobos can only raid 2 sata3 drives, the lsi cards can handle 4 to 8 (or more depending on which) and yes, it'll smoke onboard controllers. You really can't go wrong with a Mega raid card when it comes to raid arrays. I'm eyeballing an LSI card myself. I'm running a few sata3 drives on sata2 port atm...a sin in my book...lol

But these are sata 2,i once had 4 of them in raid 0 in and old i7 920 and a x58 mobo, this is a 2009 or 2010 megaraid card i have here stoped along with the ssd?s from the first Kingston v+ series each one of them have 64 gb,that?s why i wanted to know, because it isnt a very recent card and the ssds arent as well..
The LSI 8708EM2 is a 3Gbps (ie SATA II) controller, so keep this in mind.

I think you are extreme(ly) wrong. I said V+ first series of 2009 or 2010 not v300 sata 3 or 6gb per second read it well before trying to bash the others
These are the ssd.
As you may see by this picture i want to use 4 of these ssd with that card to reutilize parts i have hanging around here.
I just asked in this section due to the storage theme,if you dont know what to say or inform correctly dont even bother to answer

Picture in first post would have saved all this grief, what you actually have is a benefit for those trying to help (with humour)
BTW v+ comes in both 3Gbs and 6Gbs versions
