Thank you all for the pics. I asked Holst to have a look, let's hope to hear him soonIn the meanwhile I will have a friend of mine trying to find this vdimm mod as well.
Hi all.
The Vdimm is regulated by a simtech SC2616 the same as used on several other modern boards including the Epox 4PDA2+ rev2.
http://www.semtech.com/pdf/sc2616.pdf
The successfull mod for 4PDA2+ is detailed here.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...threadid=23714
So the same pryncipals should apply.
The FB mod is pin1 to ground using 200k VR on 4PDA2+, resistance values may differ on this board so please take your time when turning the pot.
Question is where can you solder onto pin 1 (as this is an MLP package) This is pretty easy as with the excelent pics ive been sent we can easily follow the trace from pin1 to a SMT resistor on the board that we can easily solder onto.
The below mod is UNTESTED and should not be attempted unless you fully understand what you are doing.
I would appreciate if somebody could tripple check that I have got pin1 correct, and that my other logic is sound.
Fast enough for you :POriginally posted by Iolao

maybe im missing something, why on earth do u need more vdimm? just to see if it will go higher? b/c youre a fool to run more than that on a reg. basis, IMO

2 Bad i´m a fool 2 then..i need more then 3.3v to get higher then 260mhz cas 2.2.2.11 with my 2x512 sticks.. anyone know if +3.3 v needs to be higher then vmem?on this board.
If the 4DPA2+ is anything to go by the Vdimm will be scourced from the 5v line... so you should be able to get 4v+ using this mod.. although you should be able to easily confirm this by poking the mosfets with a DMM.
just fyi, modules wont last too long when theyre are constantly run with that much voltage...afaik
3.3 is even pushin the envelope

Got a question... kind of a dumb one... so i measure the voltage from the psu with my dmm.. easy since the plug is off the mb. but of course i want to measure the v with the mb running to account for the voltage drop that will take place, right? this way i can tweek the pots to bring it back up to [wherever]. so my q is: how do i access the pins with the plug plugged into the mb?
I got my RMA back from Kingston. I traded some killer bh5 sticks for some ch5 in hopes it was incompatible with my nf7-s 2.0. Well, I got the sticks back the day after Christmas threw them in and same old story. I couldn't get it over 211fsb stable. So.. I got mad took it out of the case took it back to the store and paid the difference for the DFI rev B.
As soon as I got it setup, I went straight for 10x230. It booted up and ran 3dmark 2001 no problem. I raised it up to 240fsb and ran prime 95 for 6 hours. Now I'm priming at 10x242fsb aggressive, 11,3,2,2,2, enable, enable, fast. 1.9vdd, 3v ram, 2v v-core. I don't have any voltage problems although it undervolts vcore to 1.95v sometimes. I think in just one day this board is my favorite of all time. I'm really impressed with this board so far at stock with no mods. I havent had one lockup yet. It failed to boot at 250fsb so I backed it down to 242 for some more testing.

With a fine DMM probe, you should be able to slip it in from the wire side.
You could also slip a piece of paperclip in there, but be careful of shorts in any case.
You could also salvage some old molex connectors and solder them to the leads, making a more permanent test point.
Great results wolf!I am glad to hear such things since it will be my next motherboard (the lanparty B).Let me know if you have any stability issues @ 2volt vcore after further testing

heheyou definitely answered fast... I cannot test myself vdimm mod until my return at home, I think your 200k vr and turning down method is quite safe if you are able to check voltages (better with a DMM).
I'm of your opinion. I checked with DMM 5v line on mobo's mosfets and it gets low when raising vdimm. One thing you should consider is that if having for example vdimm really high (take 3.6v) your 5v rails is gonna drop a lot and that can cause instability problems not ram related...Originally posted by Holst

just be acreful reading things with a DMM on a live mobo. ive killed a board b4 from carelessness while measurin voltage on a nf7 that was running, it takes one unsteady move and thats it, poof, it will short and ull be done with. just be extremely careful, for it wud sure be a shame to lose an infinty over that.Originally posted by EnJoY

Wolf, was that with dual channel enabled? As soon as I got it setup, I went straight for 10x230. It booted up and ran 3dmark 2001 no problem. I raised it up to 240fsb and ran prime 95 for 6 hours. Yep dual channel enabled. I have been able to drop the chipset down to 1.6v and it's prime 95 stable at 10x240. My voltage rails seem stable although higher vcore would have been nice. I can't seem to get a post at 250fsb with my board. I can bench up to 248fsb but 250 just fails to post.

Each of these boards "feels" like a hand-made car - like a Ferrari.
Each is fast yet each has it's own personality.
Mine is bootable at 250 Dual-Channel but not every time. Haven't tried a single stick yet.

hmm
im not sure if vdimm/my ram is holding me from 250. but 250 wasnt happy and murdered my hdd.. so.. hmm. i guess ill have to do the mods on this board and see what i get.
