I have an 8RDA+ r1.0. I am going to buy a NF7-S v2. The 8RDA+ has a jclk jumper. The default connected state means the default fsb is 133/166, and the unconnected state mean default fsb is 100/133 as read from the manual I have in front of me.

So Epox users do not need this mod. I read up to page 5 or 6 and see Epox users wanting the mod. One word. Dumb!

I can see that the (easier to mod) NF7-S has no jumper which is a shame. I have a 1800+ which I have had 2500Mhz from on water cooling (see sig for details), so I will be testing the board out and then trying the l3 pin mod which sounds like it has more room to work with.

I admit I will have to double check which pins I need to join as its not as simple as the L12 bridge mod. In this respect it may just be easier to sellotape of the surrounding pins and draw the conductive line on the cpu dye.

PS thx for posting this info.

BTW this is all alot easier than to unlock a palmino where you had to conductive paint 5 bridges to unlock all multipliers. I managed to gain only one extra multiplier.

Disposable Hero - I am sure you haven't got a rev 2.x 8RDA+ and therefore should probably stick with the default fsb of your cpu. Its been said already that the NF7-S v2.0 like 333fsb chips and the 1.0-1.2 like 266fsb chip.

I tried with the jclk jumper off and I got 1Mhz better stable, to 205Mhz with stock cooler (now fully water cooled).

OK, I have yet to pin mod my XP1700... But i've read that many people have to resort to BIOS 1.0...... Anyone only have luck with older bioses? Can I keep using 1.7 or what?

    Yeah.
For me bios 10 sucks a** now. Some time ago I remember I could oc quite well with this one

I cannot get safely into win2k w/same settings as 14. I gonna stay with 14 cause I think other ones don't cut it

Are you sure 16 goes farther than 14 for you, my friend

Epox users don't need this trick since there is a jumper onboard:

But there has to be a change for the increased bios number, hasn't it ?

I do not know but I thought YOU would be able to explain it to me

Anyway - thanks again for posting this info. I have ordered an NF7-S v2.0 and will be doing the back of the cpu mod to make my xp1800+ run on a 333fsb by default.

From my understanding you have a non 2.x epox. You have a default 133fsb cpu. You should take the jclk jumper off the board and then be happy, and get the best fsb possible.

If you are saying that you know different plz tell us. I don't understand what mod you did, because you didn't say. Plz be as clear as possible and then it won't take so long to see where you at.

I am not the guru 'cause this makes no sence to me at all:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...121#post184121

I can understand that you ground the fsb_sence signal to gnd for a low with respect to the truth table. However I can't see why a particular pin is ground.

Also these two pics are different:

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...444#post190444

I assume GND is both sides of the FSB_sence1 signal pin. I am sorted with some conductive paint. I got the CW pen just waiting for my NF7-S v2.0 to replace the 8RDA+ 1.0.

That is correct. I edited a diagram which happened to have the ground pins on the other side marked. And putting lines in both directions would just confuse ppl even more anyway.

Hi Strang_man- we have almost identical scores and config there! I could only get one mHz more when I removed my jumper on 8RDA+. I posted a link above where it helped alot though. Its only the newer stepping north bridge that likes 166FSB CPU, the older ones like 133FSB CPUs. I have not tried doing both mod and jumper but you are welcome to try.

actually, i'm at 9/4/4/3 right now...the system keeps rebooting at 7/3/3/2.5...i was at 5/3/3/2 when my fsb was 215 and below but i guess it just can't keep those timings at this speed. P95 stable at 220x11 so i'm gonna see if i can get 8/3/3/3. gonna get some new ram, maybe some twinmos w/BH5 chips (Hynix D43 on mine right now), then put my a7n8x-x board back together on my 2nd system....was running 225x11 but P95 locked the system after 20-30 min....a new psu is in order, too.....
