Timings are not important for this test.
    you can't hit 2400 mhz at 1,5v ?
If a 3000+ can hit 2.4GHz with 1.5v, its a lucky chip dude.
    My 3000+ hits 2.3Ghz with 1.5v stable.

It doesnt look like its going to hit 2400 with just 1.5. Actually I havent managed to get it to hit 2400 with any amount yet For some reason it just craps out at that speed, even if the memory is throttled back and vcore upped.

    But anyway,
    LDT @ 2.5
    v@1.5
    memory 6:5 8-4-4-2.5
    max 230x10
    havent stability tested it yet

We're talking the hyped up CG core here, it's supposed to be far better than the core's that are on the shelfs right now.

The mem controller is supposed to be more tolerant with the sort of RAM used.

Send it over to me, i'll test it for you.

Supaman , do you use clockgen , if you don't , you can't hit high FSB.
my K8NPRO don't boot when FSB>230 in bios , by clockgen i can hit<330 FSB.

May be PCI bus getting to high thats messing with my OC... I use an m-audio revolution. I doubt its as high PCI speed friendly as the SB or onboard cards people are using.

Yes it suppost to be better, its needs lass Vcore at low speed.
But we have to wait and see what supeman do with his CG.

I only say that 2.4GHz with stock is a very very good OC. even for a CG.

I have been playing with it, at 1.5V the max stable is 2.2GHz. Even there it isnt stable in prime, but I havent been able to crash it there yet. I am currently testing out 2.3GHz at 1.65V...

One thing I can say for certain is that without more vcore (mobo max 1.7V) the chip absolutely will not stabilize at 2.4GHz. even if the RAM is at 185MHz and the LDT at 1x.... 2.4 is a no go for sure, unless I am missing some key setting... and I believe i've toyed with them all

    These timings suck big time!!
Are these the best timings it takes??
Set LDT to 2,5 and try other RAM, it might not like the RAM.

If you could just show a Sandra mem bandwidth test @ 10x200 and decent timings (2-2-2-6-11-16) we could make a nice compare.

Don't know what's holding you back but it doesn't look promising at all.

under absolutely no circumstances will windows boot with CL=2.0 so CL has to be 2.5 at least. Considering that, then I shouldnt go lower than 7 for tRAS or whatever that bigger one is called. Here is

    7-2-2-2.5
    LDT 3x @ 200
    CPU 200x10
tREF is at its lowest value, 1x1552

Your ram chips are bh-5 or ch-5 or another ?
Do you increase Vddr to 2,9v?
Could you tell me the cpu temp °c full-idle at 1,7v ?
    Try with only one Memory.
Do you try to desynchronise your ram to 166 or 150 or 133...
    do you use clockgen ???
    please reply to me.

I had all of the in-BIOS voltage maxed,
VDDR +.3 (probably 2.8.... shouldnt 2.5 be stock?)
    HT voltage +.3
    VDDQ +.3
    as well as core 1.7

About temps, downloading a large file right now so it will be about a half hour before I can get back to you about them. Idle at 2Ghz is 26ºC though if that interests you

I have it cooled with a swiftech MCW5000, eheim 1250, heatercore, pair of 80cfm fans.

I did use clockgen. when I was trying for 2.4GHz basically what I did was:

    -max the voltages
-set LDT to 2.5 (later tried 2 and 1)
    - RAM ratio to 150 (4:3) (wanted to be absolutely sure it wasnt the RAM maxing out)
    - booted, started up clockgen.
If I lower the CPU multiplier, then I can get the HTT speed up to 253 at 2.5LDT before I have problems, but no matter what combination I use... at 2.4GHz the computer resets almost immediately. I think it needs more vcore.

The RAM is 2x512Mb Corsair XMS3500 v1.1 which is BH5.

Tonight I am going to try it with just one stick in.

there is some problems with BH-5 appearly , but normally the revison CG sould disable this problem.
yes the vcore should be welcome by the cpu.
but less than 2.4 ghz@1,7v in Watercooling iz not fabolous :/
i hope you're not lucky with this chip.
there's no use to increase vddq and vhtt.

hey SupaMan - do you have an smd grabber and a 50killo ohm multi turn variable resistor. the vcore mod is so easy you might just fall off your chair.
    i have a pictureless guide up http://www.planetmars.co.za/forums/i...howtopic=11357

also try using only one stick of memory. the giga board often takes offence to two sticks. especially 512mb ones
