you dumped in D2OL. Congratulations. If it weren't for all intents and purposes a *completely* dead project, I might be impressed.

I can't help but chuckle at the sweet irony of DPC's past statements regarding D2OL not being a "real" project only to see that you now are cheering that you've taken the lead there.

Unfortunately, if you go up one link from the current D2OL stats, you would find what happens when we actually run a project. I do believe our lead in D2OL was just under 1 million points at the time it all ended, even with ICA_Cows magical "600+ Pentium 4's". ROFL.

    Have a nice day now.

Well don't exactly know wich stats you are referring to? Rosetta?

And regarding the 'dead' statement. XS is still crunching the project... and that would then be because?

But as i am sure that some members of DPC stated D2OL to be dead, i am sure that not everybody of XS thinks it is dead, and neither do the whole of DPC. Otherwise, why would they crunch. Therefore some people care

Well, one link up from the D2OL stats would be the D2OL Final Stats.

As far as our output, I think we have 1(maybe 2?) guys that are actively running it, and the rest of the production is largely from remote rigs that someone must not have access to anymore.

Given that there are only 3 teams regularly producing over 1,000 points a day and no team is regularly producing over 2,000 per day, I'd say that qualifies it as a dead project as this time.

I think we did quite good, we didn't give an a$$ about d2ol and still DPC has to work to overtake us :p

Now we do R@H and they have to work even harder to make an impression.

    here is to all:

    Gigabyte X58 UD5

I read about PM's going out, i see XS members pulling out of other projects, members who want to join D2OL beeing advised to join Rosetta, because the cows are having a stampede...

I am not judging that, quite the opposite, but i think you are working just as hard as we do

And saying 'we' ( XS? ) don't gove an a$$ abou D2OL is rather ... rude to the people cruncing there for you ( XS ) isn't it?

I was rude yes but it's the truth, we gave up on D²OL a while ago...
Which doesn't mean your efforts don't need to be celebrated, just quit the 'I'm the man' stuff.

If I read your forum correctly you guys think your THE MAN because you caught us in D²OL while we are working hard for R@H and you can't say we HAD a hard time catching you guys in R@H because we were doing double the output you guys DID. And yes we allready heard a lot of times that you guys do more projects than us, every team plays the game different...

Well it's always nice if you take 1st overall, just because you gave the project up, what is funny, since there are still enough people crunching there, doens't mean a team can't enjoy there performance.

FYI there was 1 subteam that flushed, and ofcourse they are happy that it was a succes. They also flushed significantly in an other project, TSC, and are also happy about that outcome.

As far as R@H is concerned. Let's just wait what April brings us

And finally in defence of DPC, and then i'll quit it , it would not be very difficult to let all other projects go and crunch only Rosetta, and make it to the top. I think we enjoy it to be represented in lots of projects, and do what we can on all of them

Ofcourse it's easier to get a really big output when nearly all of you are doing just one project. Besides R@H, DPC is doing about 8 other projects as well, and doing quite well, I might add... I would really wonder how much power we could generate if all of DPC would focus on just one single project.

And the same argument comes flying through the house again

First off, jeffrey, relax dude, mellow... wanna go bowling tonight with us?

Secondly, That is DPC's power and weakness.

You guys CAN NOT, NEVER EVER, NO WAY HOSE, NOT IN A MILLION YEARS switch everyone over to Rosetta, why? a lot of DPC'rs hearts ly somewhere else then with rosetta (folding at home? RC54, SETI back in the days..)

so NO WAY you could ever get those people switched. and because we are still crunching, a lot of comps have become unavailable to install rosetta on so they still crunch away into the nightly hours for D2OL. got a rig also which I can't get on no more crunching D2OL.... tough

But the sheer power of XS lies in the fact that we can steamroll a project, make a massive lead, and then just hop to another project

If we overtake Nr 1 today, we just keep the pace up for like 2 months, leave some comps behind and switch to another project (most likly also a BOINC project)

and if our leadership is being attacked, we switch back and voila

Consider us the Borg, we steamroll something, leave some borg behind to finish the job and move along to assimilate some others

Well i think something can be said for both methods. Ofcourse it is nice to take 1st place. And if that is your main goals, than go for it.

If you are more true to the project itself, and want to make an effort for that project, and not only for the stats, DPC is where you wanna be.

    It's just a matter of priority's

this is great entertainment and i hope you DPC guys do have a killer ouput because i'll still be impressed if its over 500,000 a day even from a rival team.

Either way this will most importantly aid the project overall and it will only provoke us to up our game just to beat you again. So do your worst

p.s. can you tell me the time the stampede is going to start in GMT as i don't want to miss it.

    Talking What he said!

Feels like a warm-up here for a WWF match (W/o the violence ) More entertaining too since we all get to participate.

Let's just hope we don't break too much in Rosetta w/ our 'fun'

In 10 years who will remember this (except maybe if we help save someone w/ the research ). All part of the fun.

    to ALL!

true your helping the project but how? with your output right?
Well if what we do in 1 year is what you guys do on one project in 3 years I'd say our tactic helps the project in the short run. i have to agree having a loyal group of followers like the DPC fellas is very good to since if there are new items to be crunched, you cna always rely on the good old fellas

not really, you've got 5 times the members we do, thats even a generous approx, and without DDTUNG our super member we do 150k a day.. so you should do 5 times that.... or 750k ... are the so called PowerCows up to it.. i doubt it.

Something I learned from my father:
Always set goals that seem to be unobtainable so that when you do reach them you have accomplished something worthwhile.
