To those who said they could not boot at all...

I'm having the cold boot problem now and been saved a couple of times ONLY with a single sided generic DDR module, anything else I have (1 vdata double sided dimm and the system original ram, 2 sticks of ocz vx 3200) will just beep and beep... even clearing cmos, taking out battery, etc etc wont do nothing, once it boots with that dimm I can start trying 1 ocz module, wun memtest and then plug the second module and they boot, problem is I built this for a customer who must unplug the pc in order to be able to take it home hehhe. It ran without the prob for 3 months aprox. so I'm sure it's a board problem, cause the ram once the pc boots again and lets me handle the timings work again, but it's not a problem that was there when the board was brand new, so it would be wise to dfi to track the origin and cause of the problem and feed it back to their customers....

    i have cold boot issues!

exact same symptoms as others have described: 1 (specific) stick boots but not 2...get it working for a few days and then have problems again etc etc

flashed from 3/10p to the official 6/23 ... didnt help

    mem sticks ive tried:
VX 3200 (from the very first shipment of this stuff)
VX 4000 (about 3 weeks old)
BH-5 (classic mushkin 3500 black II)
BH-5 (mushkin Blueline ie re-badged above stuff... #'s on PCB match)
"UTT" (mushkin Blueline with green PCB)

i can find no rhyme or reason with this DFI board, since combos that would not boot the first time i try will boot fine after i try a few different combos...but then after a few days, wont work again

    1 very NOTE:
i have also had similar issues (1 specific stick boots but not both or just the "other" stick) with a K8T Neo2 (Via chipset) running redline 4000 mem and a ddr booster...the "clear CMOS for ever" trick...(i needed to clear for 6+ hours) worked for that mobo, but does NOT for my DFI
since this is a 24/7 FOLDing rig, i just havent powered it down (for a month or so) to see if it still has problems

EDIT: but i would/could if anyone thinks the info might help "solve" this problem

My AO2 board has issues running UTT @ stock timings(2.5-3-3-8), 2.5-4-4-8, 2-3-3-7 2.5-3-3-7, 2-3-2-6, 2-2-2-8. only runs them @ 2-2-2-6 3.1v and above, no matter which bios. I've checked OCZ, corsair, kingston, UTT CH-. This issue is definately not bios or ram related, at least on my board. It's very funny, as i refuse to pull out a stick, even though i never run in a case for the first month or so with a system.

over the past few days, i;ve tried every bios, tested each stick of ram, and repeatedly i run into the exact same instability from a cold boot. It can be as minor as a couple of errors in test 8 or test 6 of memtest, or at worst 100's even during test one. reboot a few times, errors will dissappear. Almost feels like the caps are dispersing thier charge, or are not capable of holding enough juice for boot for most users, but this does not explain the instability that i get at 2.65v and 2.5-3-3-8, which all of these winbond based ic's should be capable of...and are, in other boards.

so the only question for me remains, is how do i get a new board faster? RMA direct to DFI, or to supplier?

Since this thread has gotten no posts since this - does this mean that BIOS version fixed the issue? If I replace my DAGF for this board, I'd like it to work at the higher voltages.

No this Bios has not fixed the issue in all cases. I thinbk most people are waiting for the Rev 2 (EXPERT) board to come out hence why no further posts. This rev 2 board doen not have cold boot issues (according to DFI!)

    Thanks!

I hope it's not vaporware, it's a shame that such a nice tweaker's mobo has this problem. My DAGF has similar issues where the voltage goes down 0.4v from where I set it to unless I do odd things to make it work, so if I upgrade, I want to make sure RAM voltages are good.

Oh, really? So DFI fixed it in hardware with their new board..

you know, most manufactuars, by law, have to RECALL such products. I'll be waiting on my replacement revision.. because as of now, this board is pissing me off.

I hate this cold boot issue, came out of nowhere. Right now I'm thinking that I made a mistake buying DFI.. I hated the DFI CA61 I use to have..

hopefully someone will throw a class action lawsuit towards them in the future like they did with Abit (I think it's them?) .. $180, I expected to get a halfway decent board..

I'm mad.. using 512MB of RAM right now because I'm having a hell of a time even getting hte other stick to work. It came out of nowhere after about a month.. happily running at 260mhz and out of nowhere it wouldn't cold-boot. IF I can get it to boot I can OC like crazy with no problems.. but if I have to shut my PC down for whatever reason (power outtage, to install a new part, etc) the board wont cold boot and I have to spend a lot of time trying to get it to work. I'm tired of it..

my options suck. Send it back to DFI so they can tell me that there is nothing wrong with it (works with other RAM just fine!) after 3 weeks, buy another board and try to sell this one.. ugh

last DFI product I ever buy

I guess this issue has never been resolved.

As I stated I used TCCD and BH-5 at all voltages and settings, with/without 5v option etc, but it doesn't matter.
No matter what voltage or ram type it STILL has cold boot issues, and TBO this is stupid and should be fixed!!

I updated to the latest bios ( 704?), and it STILL has the boot issue, but NOW I also get some wierd beeping when trying to boot also.

Pretty ridiculous that this PROBLEM STILL exists!!

Over at DFi-Street they'll tell ya that you need a gazillion watt PSU, and if ya dont have one they dont wanna hear it.... pretty lame when there are alot of folks that use a 600w supply and STILL have these same issues, not to mention that I am not even taxing the PS420 I already have in there..

The board flys when it boots(BTW thats with my underpowered[ ] Powerstream 420), but I will NOT leave my box on 24/7.

This is NOT my ram, or my cpu, this is a DFI hunk-a-crap problem that they REFUSE to admit or address.
All I keep reading is excuse after excuse, now they're killing great chips and rams at stock voltage/settings.... this is pathetic.

I was actually THINKING about the RDX200 ( another DFI board, what am I thinking?), but I see that THAT board also has the boot problems.

Maybe I'll get the Asus MVP and be done with all this nonsense, for less $ and very comparable results.

I'm getting the occassional cold-boot still even though I changed to OCZ 2gb PC4000EB Platiniums. That stuff is CE-6 and yeah sometimes I can't even switch the computer off.

Also I am starting to get the occassional Stability issues. I hope the board isnt ing up by New ram like it did my old!

I wish that we could return the Piece of S##T's to DFI and get a credit for experts but that is beyond hope.
