I contacted IDT and they said that all Audio support issues MUST go through Intel.

Any one have Audio issues must call or Email Intel and MAKE them record your issue.

Realtek is MUCH better support and they get constant fixes with enhancements.

i'll do that for the 7.1 setting problem i have when i only have headphones plugged in. maybe they'll fix it in a year

as far as my USB keyboard not working in boot disks, i've learned that it has to do with the Caldera DOS boot image i use from Nero. Caldera doesn't have USB drivers, so my USB ports all shut off the moment it loads. i still haven't found an easy way around that. if anyone uses a different boot disk image, please let me know so i can download it. i'm pretty certain all my BIOS settings are correct.

The latest FreeDOS works just fine. I use it to flash the bios on these boards.

Indeed it seems it's just a processor list update, that was my first thought with the 8600 coming out and all. However, if you think about it, 2 1/2 months to just update processor support? And if you read the updates listings in previous BIOSes the versions remain within the 15xx range with a lot of fixed issues and new stuff. Now, they go all the way to 1782 and just processor update? Not convinced here. I think (and hope) they didn't finish the list of all the available updates with this new version, only the first line was included. The rest of it they forgot to write down.
Well, I believe Tony is on vacation, maybe he can shed some light on the new improvements as far as memory support they were working on, if that was included or not.

Yes, I had the same problem, they said Intel would give the support, guess Intel will do nothing though, still waiting for their reply. However, I believe they don't do any development of the drivers themselves, they only wrap the IDT drivers I guess.

or maybe they've been working on other fixes that they didn't include in this BIOS. i doubt they'd leave all that stuff out of their release notes.

That could be it of course, but why release this version just now if 8600 is still some 2 weeks away? And this BIOS is dated mid July already, testing and all is normally another 2 weeks or so. Maybe also support for E7xxx procs as well but I find it strange that they release this version now with only such uninformative description.
Maybe a new version soon with all the new stuff enabled.

    For Vista...

    Try - MSConfig/ Boot/ Advanced
tick the box at the top left and select the number of cores you are running
tick the other box at the top right and type in the total amount of RAM you are running

    Reboot

(checking after reboot... leave Detect HAL ticked)

This may or may not help, but in the case for most of us, no more Driver Stops responding errors... it may help with BSOD

I think the BSOD are gone, I replaced the Patriot memory with OCZ DDR3 1600 and I have not had a BSOD sense.

New network driver v13.1.1 available for download. Again Intel provides little info on it, saying that it's for PRO 10/100. Well, BoneTrail has the 82566 PHY and it's PRO/1000 1Gbps, so again the question remains, is this driver correct for this board? It's in the download page for it but Intel hasn't learned anything regarding detailed/clear description of their drivers. It's an all OS driver so it's huge at 105MB.
    Anyone flashed to 1782 yet?

Yep! But I detect little if any difference on my system. Still rock solid but the following problems still remain.

S3 Standby. (likely to next issue, won't come out of sleep)
USB keyboard not detected until Windows has been loaded.

When viewing the event log, there is a log entry for everytime I start the computer with a keyboard not found error. This is also indicated by the failure of the F2 key to work for BIOS access. If not for the configuration jumper, I'd be SOL. I've purchased several different keyboards and every single one only works once the OS has loaded.

If that problem were solved, I suspect that S3 Standby would work, perhaps it's not seeing the keyboard/mouse while in standby and can't wake up?

Once these two remaining issues are resolved for me, I'll have full satisfaction in this product.

I am using a G-15 keyboard with a G-5 mouse and I had that problem when I first put this system together, when I went into bios my keyboard turn off, I had my keyboard and mouse plug in side by side so I moved the keyboard down to the next set of usb ports and it has not happen sense.

Thanks HighTest, I suspected that much, most of their drivers are for all network chipsets. Still, Intel continues to have poor driver info, no release notes for this one either. The INF/chipset installation drivers issue still not correctly updated, I emailed them but got an evasive answer stating that they'll look into it.
I wish they had separate drivers for each SO like before, downloading 100+MB for some drivers alone isn't all that good, not that it's a problem for me but for others it might be.
Anyway, regarding your keyboard issue, is it only from when POST finishes and the SO starts loading? Because this is the way it works since "Legacy support" is available while POSTing and in BIOS, then no USB avail till the SO starts up. But I see you have no USB also for entering BIOS, right? Tried all USB ports on the mobo?
I see S3 issue is still there, maybe it is in fact related to your USB issue?
So, no new features in this version of BIOS? I was hoping they forgot to finish the updates list.

HT, are you sure you have "USB legacy support" set in BIOS? If you don't, that's the way your system would work.

    FWIW Dept:
    Go to 1782, my 2x2GB G.shill would not run w/o using 7-7-7-22 74-6-10-6-6
    on 1554.

    On 1782 I can do:
    7-7-7-18-60-6-8-6-6

Also with 1554, IF you TURN ON UEFI I was seeing the USB not initialize until Windows drivers loaded. With or W/O legacy enabled, (always leave enabled) as there is no PS/2 keyboard.

Just double-checked and it's set. I'm now going through and testing every single USB.

    I'm wondering...
I use the supplied Rear Panel USB Header that came with my DX38BT for the keyboard and mouse, which has them on USB Host Controller 2935 IRQ 0x00000013(19)

Might the positioning of the input have something to do with it?

Hmm, must be something left out of the DX48BT2 box. I'll have to pickup one up and give it a try. I do notice that Everest Ultimate Edition is showing that the header based USB ports use a different controller. But it's hard to explain why that would be required if Intel doesn't provide you with the necessary header for a case slot.

I found a new problem on my board this morning, last night I turn the power off on the PS because thunder storms just to be safe the thunder storms did not come last night but this morning when I turned on my computer it started then stopped then started again went thur post then I got this message-
The system BIOS has detected unsuccessful Post attempt Possible causes include recent changes to BIOS Performance options or recent hardware changes. Press Y to enter BIOS setup or press N to cancel and attempt to boot with previous settings. I have no new hardware or changed settings. Has anyone else had this?

Well, there were at least some mem tweaks in 1782, good to know. After all this time, and working with Tony, there had to be some improvements.
Do you have UEFI turned on? Unfortunatelly, there is no UEFI for our board, I wish there was though. Kinda sick of BIOS. That's what I love about this board, legacy is almost gone. Asked Intel regarding UEFI some time ago but as usual no comment on unannounced products/features.
Wolf Rider, did your board come with an expansion bracket for USB? Mine didn't, or are you referring to the normal ones on the back along with eSATA/LAN/FW/Audio?
USB behaviour should be the same across all controllers but you never know.

UEFI was it! This was enabled and after disabling it, USB is working during POST. I can now press F2 and go into the BIOS without cracking the case and using the config jumper.

This forum and especially this thread ROCK!

Yes, this is a bug of the DX48BT2. It took me some time and investigations to find out that this is a real bug. I found it while setting up the board so I was worried about a hardware failure or settings issue, but no, after multiple calls to Intel and posts on other forums (as well as this one, see my first post page 49), it's a bug.

Intel CONFIRMED this bug with their OWN computer! They are still investigating it. Don't know how they could have missed it the first time. Bottom line is I unplug my harddrives if the power supply has been disconnected or lost power so my hard drives don't cycle on the first boot (not good for the HDD). Then all I can do for now is assuming that this is only a bug & everything else is fine, until I hear more from Intel.

1782 bios fixed ati hd 4870 restart isssues at over clock speeds, I think

After new bios my computer will now restart without the 4870 complaining about power. Glad i didn't buy that new power supply the the geniuses at visiontek said i needed (trust the end user, not the salesman). I did change some other things but i believe the bios upgrade fixed it. If it fixed it for Gtj then we know it has to be the bios fix. Just figured iI would give an update.

    Is yours all good Gtj?
