he, saaya... ur sure that setting jumper to 100fsb will give me some fsb boost?

just wondering because on my board i can go up to 270fsb (1m, 260 prime) without any mods but jumpers are set to 133fsb.(ok, i got a gpl-x but i dont think that this makes the difference)

i think ill have to test this when i got my mach back .

Saaya from now on you are mine and ojdr's personnal CPU chooser, look what our 780ES does on CT-479 stock cooler, 1.46v and no mods on CT-479 or board yet:

    Mems are XP4000 Redline @ 262Mhzs 2-2-2-5

This is very important and must be added to the tips section:

As pointed before, the realtion between FSB and pci-e set in bios must be like this to prevent from random freezes and reboots:
    FSB=PCI-E x 2,2

Keep in mind the 1007 is still in beta stage. As far as I know all the release bios above 1005 have dothan support.

EDIT: nvm Saaya, tried booting at 170FSB and 120Mhzs PCI-Ex and now it does 200+++ FSB =) Till now this 780ES (its ojdr2001 CPU as i'm his son :P) does 2860Mhzs 1.46v stable for SuperPi 1M with CT-479 stock cooler =)
oh hey, yo you are orlandos son! nice to meet you man
almost 2.9ghz with less than 1.5v thats amazing!!!
looks like the 780es chips do even better than i was told
hmmm so if you boot with a higher fsb it suddenly works again?
man the locks and plls on this board are really fcked up...
will add a note to the tips in the first post

btw, sorry dave, but i used font size 1 because otherwise its simply too much text... its simply overwhelming

if its too small for anybody just copy and paste it in a txt file

Booting @ 170 FSB and 120Mhzs PCI-Express gives me 260 FSB in windows, without any mods on the board or on the ct-479.
Nice to meet you too Saaya :P

Btw anyone how to mount a XP90C with CT-479 and P4GD1?

well thats what people told me
i actually only had a 5-10mhz lower fsb with the jumpers on the ct479 set to 133 fsb with my banaias... with the jumpers set to 100fsb i can bench at 149fsb, with the jumpers set to 133fsb i can only reach ~145 max and 142/141 is the max i can bench with.

the ct479 works with banias and dothan cpus, maybe banias chips need a higher voltage for the cpu interface, so when set to 100fsb the ct479 sets a slightly higher fsb interface voltage? just a theory...
but this would also explain why george (hipro5) said that for his ct479 mods for even higher voltages the fsb jumper has to be set to 133fsb.

1007 beta2 doesnt work with pentium m chips...
thanks for your tip about the pciE and fsb ratio, but there are conflicting opinions, vince (kingpin) said that theres not really a fixed ratio between pciE and fsb to whats stable... but ok, i will add a note, thx

Yep, you have to set FSB to 167+ for locks to work

That's why I stated release bios. Well the ratio is not exactly 2.2 but it's close to it and it gives you a quite precise indication of how far you can go with every pci-e freq. Also some boards seem to be able to boot at higher pci-e freq than others, mine maxes out at 121 with vchipset at 1,6v, how do others do?

ah my bad about the bios i misread your post

well the highest i heard of was 130 pciE i think

    kiwi, are you sure?
so until 166fsb there is no divider kicking in and pci clocks are actually 41mhz? :o

Yeah, I don't know what is happening at fsb 100-133 but I am pretty sure locks do not work if you boot 133-166. So basically 167+ is the best way to go.

    thx silence
well if you find some more problems or tweaks please post them here to share them with everybody else

hmmm thx for the tip kiwi, will try to boot with 167fsb... 14x167 is 2330mhz... max ive been at so far was 2100
but that was fsb limited (14x150) before i heard about the pciE trick wich now lets me get up to 160fsb

lol that 167 boot is almost at borderline with my 780
24/7 atm with inbox cooler is 2.8ghz..
there's lots of 780 users now thanks to saaya (and bogi16v)
lets spam asus (or make a petition) so that they'll implement multiplier control into p4gd1 bios

Well, time to a sad update...

    1x256Mb Mushkin LevelII PC3500 BH5 (old-school) 270Mhz@2-2-2-5 DEAD
1x1Gb OEM Kreton (chips VT) that can do 275Mhz@2.5-3-3-7 2.8v DEAD

With the first, the system was on dual-channel and only one dimm died... don't know why... 3.6v max used and 275Mhz attempt...

The 1Gb was bought to exchange the OCZ PC3500EB kit that was on my girlfriend pc, but as it was BrainPower B6U808 PCB I decided to give it a try before.
It scaled till 275Mhz@2.5-3-3-7 (200Mhz@3-3-3-8 default) at only 2.8v A really good find indeed...
When I try to change the timmings with 915 tweaker to 2.5-2-2-7 the system crashed and the dimm was died...

This is very weird... I have vchipset and vdimm mods on P4GD1 and all seems allright by there... maybe the problem is change the voltage of vdimm when system's still run? Maybe 915 tweaker problem?
    What do you guys think?

Hope that Mushkin RMA my kit, but what will I get instead of my beloved kit?.
About the OEM dimm there's no problem too, but will I have such luck next time with a OEM stick? (there's another one on the store and I was planning to buy it too to mach with this one, and now...)

If i understood you have killed 3 sticks in the same board . I guess there is something wrong with your board . Have you measured the Vdimm with a multimeter ?

sounds like what saaya was describing earlier.. did you run i915 clockgen and
cpu-z at the same time when all of that happend? that's what saaya reported
    happened to his 2 sticks...

What Saaya has described ? What does it has to do with running ClockGen and Cpu-Z ?

i couldnt get over 150fsb with my old banias cpu before i knew that increasing pciE speeds helps to get a higher fsb.
one time i had cpuz and clockgen running together and i could go over 150fsb. i got really excited, but i benchmarked and the sores were not higher, so i rebooted and the board didnt boot up again, so i rest cmos but it turns out the memory is dead.

i didnt remember that i had used cpuz and clockgen together, i thougt it was a setting in the chipset i had used. since i had reset my cmos i tried all different settings and tried to get above 150fsb again, without sucess, the system always froze at 150fsb.

then i remembered i had clockgen and cpuz running together again and tried it and it worked. benched and again the scores were the same.
i started crystalcpuid and it showed the fsb was still 150fsb.
i closed cpuz and clockgen and started them again, only cpuz started and showed 150fsb, clockgen didnt start again. i tried to start clockgen over and over again, but it either showed up in task manager and didnt load, or i got an error message saying no pll found or something like that.

i rebooted and the second stick was dead.

i also heard of somebody else in spain killing his memory on this board without any mods, so i think franck is right, there seems to be something wrong with the boards vdimm design.

i didnt have any issues again though, and im using bh5 again...
ratax, what exactly did you do before you rebooted the system and the memory died?
i still have some old sticks lieing here i can use to find out what exactly happens that kills the memory, its only 256mb sticks that i dont care about if they die asthey arent really worth anything. pc2700 micron for example.

i dont think the 915 tweaker killed the memory though, just like i dont think cpuz and clockgen dont kill the memory. its some flaw in the mainboard that might get activated with those apps though.
i think that the system just froze because you were trying to set tight timings the memory couldnt run, is that possible?

whenever you guys have the system freeze, i guess its best to power off the psu and take out the memory before you reboot...

    DaWaN, with a pentium m?

hmmmm and bogi lost one of his sticks on the p4c 800 deluxe e running dual channel... and i think he lost memory before on that rig...
could it be that the ct479 has to do with this?

BY DOING THIS MOD YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SUPPLY AS MUCH VOLTS TO YOUR RAMS AS THE 5V RAIL CAN HANDLE!

I'm not responsible for any dead hardware because you have made this mod and killed something.
