Not bad at all. By the way, are you using stock cooling and have you tried reseating?Originally Posted by Dillusion

Hey all,
Doing a quick and dirty with this 3600 Brisbane. Currently running 3ghz exactly. Amd been slacking on the ihs though. Not flat at all, looks like a tub of opened cottage cheese. Well, not that bad but you get the point. Going to do some serious lapping of this dude, just have to find the time. Between playing with this cpu and Vista, and long work hours, got no time left.
And definitely need a accurate temp program. Coretemp don't work in Vista and has wrong temps in XP anyway...

Okay one image real quick:
This is all ran under Vista 32bit. The o6mark is 400 points lower than XP was using my 3800 clocked at 2.8ghz. SuperPi stayed the same under both os's.
I have to say, so far not a bad cpu for under $120.Beats my 3800 x2 and I paid $170 for it. Also it runs MUCH cooler than the Windsor core. I can't say how much since no accurate temp proggies yet. But the air coming out of my little 80mm rads feels cooler, just slightly warmer than ambient. With Windsor under load it felt like somebodies hot breathe on your hand. So I think Amd has something going here for the low power crowd to.
All testing is being done on a matx SFF system. Check my sig for details...

Wow, 3ghz on 1.3V is amazing. It's actually getting closer and closer to C2D it seems!?
so if i run my 90nm sempron at 90c and it's prime stable, i'm not damaging it?Originally Posted by uOpt

Life span will be greatly reduced for sure. 90c is too much IMO, even for a poor sempronOriginally Posted by ozzimark

Or maybe it's impossible to have a sempron prime stable at 90c, and that was the point he was making.Originally Posted by nn_step

Don't want to sound like a noob or anything but what is WCG?
AND, Do you think I would be better off going with the 4800 Brisbane or the 5600 I have on the way?
depends on your skill and williness to play the odds.Originally Posted by M411b

OK, good answer.
But still what is WCG?

It will not run dual mprime stable up to 90 C. So if you follow my posting and only up frequency and voltage as long as you are mpriming away you are safe.Originally Posted by ozzimark
thanks for taking the plunge.. Great cost-performance ratio.
Personally I'm going to wait for a 65nm opty with a non funky multi and 2x1 mb l2.
VERY nice lap job, btw.

@Plywood99 Are you going to put this CPU on Phase or DryIce?

Here is a pic of Brisbane info. Note in the pic you can see the shoddy quality of flatness on the ihs:
Here is after a little lap action:![]()
Hopefully I'll have time to finish my new dice pot Saturday. She wont be pretty but will get the job done. Still have to prep the mobo also. On a side note, The CpuZ shot does indeed show the wrong voltage. Actual is 1.5v but have not yet tried to see how much I actually need for 3ghz. Might need less, or maybe 1.5 just happened to work. Wanted to work on lapping the ihs first.Still I AM NOT complaining. Gotta love a dirt cheap cpu doing 3ghz...
Ply
3ghz@1.5V is still very nice. I assume these cpus are soldered as well, leaving you with limited options to pop the lid?
Well I ordered me a 4800 Brisbane so we will see how far it will go.Originally Posted by nn_step
