I'm going to prime for a while, quickly shut down the computer, and use the touch test to find the hot chips, and sink them.

Can you guys share pics of how you have the BIOS set up? Either I have the crappiest E6300 on the planet or I'm doing something horribly wrong in the DS3 BIOS.

    CPU: E6400
    Vcore: 1.325v

    Memory: Gskill PC6400 HZ 2Gb
    Vcore: 1.8v

    Board: Gigabyte DS3
    Vcore: default

I just mounted everything up, flashed BIOS to F3 and boot 400fsb. Stable!

I tested the memory and does 310x3 (930mhz) so correct me but does 465x2.

    After this

    vdimm:auto (does 310x3 so should do 465x2)
    vmch: +0.1
    vfsb: +0.1
    vcore: 1.375v

And I hit a wall at 410. Cant boot with nothing beyond 410. Ain't it strange that does 400 in default and with +1 and +.05vcore reaches a wall 10 mhz up? Any ideias?

Guys, something just occurred to me at work, which means I can't check it out, but is it possible SATA is holding back my overclock? I'm stuck at a pathetic 300 x 7 on my E6300!

I think I might have messed up by using the ICH8 jacks instead of the two Gigabyte SATA2 connectors on the left. Now I have to wait 5 hours to see. Grrrrr.

What's the difference? I used the orange ICH8 jacks too, but i didn't know what was different.

The ICH8 jacks are controlled by the ICH8 southbridge. The Gigabyte jacks are controlled by Gigabyte's chip that also gives us PATA. I'm guessing the ICH8 jacks could cause problems if they're not locked properly. I don't see anywhere in the BIOS to lock the SATA frequency. I'm going to experiment later.

Yeah i noticed that too. I don't see a PCI lock anywhere and once while i was in easy tune i noticed my PCI buss speed said 23mhz instead of 33mhz. am i missing this setting?

Could somebody who's FSB challenged on the DS3 give this a shot?

Unplug your USB devices and see if you can overclock higher.

Don't wanna start another thread atm, got e6300 today, 7x495 was easy with only +0.1 vmch and slight vcore bump. 500fsb is a no go but will find out what is holding it back

I also have dice container for chipset prepared.
