pentium777, hope you get your RAM straightened out. Sounds to me like a heat problem. But someone said you're using active cooling. Strange.

I just ran a couple of complete passes of Memtest at DDR600 and 3v. As you know, each pass takes forever to complete with 1GB sticks.

Memtest bandwidth is 3777 MB/s at DDR580 which is where I normally have it because I don't like using 3v all the time.

    sierrabound,

That is awesome. What do you run for everyday stable settings? What voltage?

Do you run active cooling with your memory? Is it worth it?

I am just doing a new build with those chips. Would you be kind enough to give some of the settings you used to start with. I am only looking for 270 out of my matched set. Not looking to break any records just want a good stable system for running AI algorithms for 24 - 48 hrs.

I am especially looking for the following. This is my current settings. Whatever you can fill in would be a great help.

    DRAM Frequency Set - 200 (DRAM/FSB:1/01)
Command Per Clock (CPC) - Enable
CAS Latency Control (Tcl) - Auto
    RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd) - Auto
Min RAS# active time (Tras) - Auto
Row precharge time (Trp) - Auto
Row Cycle time (Trc) - Auto
Row refresh cyc time (Trfc) - Auto
Row to Row delay (Trrd) - Auto
Write recovery time (Twr) - Auto
Write to Read delay (Twtr) - Auto
Read to Write delay (Trwt) - Auto
    Refresh Period (Tref) - Auto
Write CAS Latency (Twcl) - Auto
    DRAM Bank Interleave - Enabled

    DQS Skew Control - Auto
    DQS Skew Value - Auto
    DRAM Drive Strength - Auto
DRAM Data Drive Strength - Auto
    Max Async Latency - Auto
    DRAM Response Time - Normal
    Read Preamble Time - Auto
    IdleCycle Limit - 256 Cycles
    Dynamic Counter - Disable
    R/W Queue Bypass - 16 x
    Bypass Max - 07 x
    32 Byte Granularity - Disable(4 Bursts)

As you can see from all my Auto Settings I have been tweaking hard .

    All help would be appreciated.

    Thanks Man,

    Prasith

For everyday usage I run them at 290 with 2.8v. I do use active cooling (90mm fan) and would recommend it. Here are the memory settings I use. BTW, these are the same settings I used to run Memtest at DDR600. One other thing. The Ballistix had been running all day before I ran Memtest for an hour, so I wasn't testing with cold sticks.

Sandra buffered and unbuffered at 300X12.

And just for kicks, a suicide Memtest screen at DDR616.

I can confirm definately not a heat issue, have a room dedicated AC unit that blows fairly close to the PC, at the time ambient was around 72-74'F and I have a tornado of fans in my case ram is barely warm if even noticable when touched. So far 2.5 @ 246 and 250 haven't produced any errors but I've been running over a month at 2.6 also until I checked that test #4 and got 1 error.

    I have set my stable speed at 289 1:1 x 9.0 = 2600 MHz.
Timings at stock, vDIMM at 2.85v.
My memory bandwidth is extremely low for the OC that I have.
Sandra Buffered shows right at 7Gs, which is low for 289 MHz FSB 1:1, no?
Any ideas on what is going on here?
    See sig for more details.

At 290X9 with the settings listed above, I get around 7350-7400 in Sandra buffered.

    sierra_bound Awesome!!

Lood007 Maybe some of your 'lesser' memory timings like your Twr, Trtw, Twtr, Trfc are a bit conservative?

702-2. And that Memtest screen was for 2.7GHz (300X9). Only the Sandra results were at 3.6GHz (300X12).

I don't know why bandwidth was 3908. I run Memtest mainly to check for errors. I ran it last night after pentium777 said he was having problems. Just wanted to check to make sure I wasn't getting errors. I also ran it several times at 300X9 and each time bandwidth was 3908. Someone else was getting 3708 MB/s at 295.

Yeah i used 300*9 also. 704-2 bios. will try 702-2. if that doesn't do it i guess its the "New" ballistix that's is doin it. Check Bigtoes setup Here post # 46 and see if you can get the same or better with his config. I couldn't come close with my setup.

Actually I did try 257X11 last night after seeing his set-up. I got similar bandwidth: around 3550.

The OCZ modules are pretty good. But they can't do 280-300 @ 3-3-3 like Ballistix. A few people are making a big deal about the multiplier used. Well, a lot of CPU's simply can't do 280X10 or 270X11. Has nothing to do with having a bad memory controller. Some CPU's just can't run at those speeds. A Honda Civic isn't going to do 175mph. But it's not because it has a bad engine. It's just that it doesn't have enough power.

    I thought
    Trc = Tras + Trp
    then
    Trfc = Trc + (2 - 4)

But neither you or sierra_bound seems to be using this in their A64 Tweaker, why is that? Am i missing something? Or is the above wrong?

Also how come noone is using Everest or Sciencemark 2 or something else that benches latency? From what i've seen DDR416@ 2-2-2-6, DDR500@2.5-3-3-7 and DDR560@3-4-4-8 have within 4% the same latency yet the bandwidth difference is about 20-22%.
